Also, your mil is establishing dominance in your own house, showing your kids what an alpha female looks like, and your only response is to complain on the OT. Many such cases. Sad.

At least she puts them in a trash can. My father in law just flicks them in my yard.

Put an ashtray next to a chair on one or two of these other porches with a small, metal trash can next to it. If she can't take the hint you could resort to spraying her with water like a misbehaving cat when she lights up anywhere else.

I smoke. Nearly a pack a day. I do NOT smoke at the homes of my friends or family who don't smoke. There's no point in making people miserable due to the lingering aroma of stale cigarette smoke for several hours after you have departed.

Yeah, but if you smoke cigars on your porch, would be kinda silly to enforce a no cigarette rule.

Neither one lingers in a porch, even a nice screen in one with furniture. But IF one were to, I can tell you with confidence it’s the cigar.

Source: My lovely SO uses my occasional work travel as a chance to drink beers and have a cigar inside. He does it the first night I’m away and I know it when I come home 5 days later. Takes a week for the smell to go fully away. It’s not like that for cigarettes.
