It's a silly issue over nothing of any real meaning.

To you maybe, but not to him obviously.

They asked for his opinion, not his teammates' opinion. He didn't say anything mean-spirited or awful (like what Michael Thomas tweeted yesterday). He just said he'll never support kneeling and gave his reasons why.

I would retire tomorrow if I were Drew Brees. Then I would move to San Diego ASAP.

I was watching the organizer of the NOLA protest tonight on FB just now and it sounds like they may be heading to the Superdome tomorrow

Yea. Obviously.

I was responding to someone who said Drew didn't have an out. He had an out. He didn't take it. Obviously.

I hear ya. But these days, people attack you no matter what you say unless you say exactly what they want you to say. Otherwise, they will attack for your genuine answer or criticize you for not speaking out and being silent. Just the way it works these days. And it's nothing he hasn' said before either.

Can you be against police brutality AND also believe that it is highly disrespectful to your country by kneeling during the anthem?! Sheeeh!

My admiration for Drew Brees is well established. But I’d just like to point out that there are tens of thousands of Non-Progressives who are receiving the same public attacks, bullying and shaming. And a lot of them over many years. Progressivism is an intolerant sickness of the mind and spirit.

I never expected Drew Brees to be criticized like this from his teammates and the media folks at ESPN and CBS Sports. It all seems like a bad dream. Is this reality ?

Drew is the poster child for class and respect and what he said today was not negative toward blacks.

My God, people will turn on you like a pack of dogs if you don’t say something they agree with.

Jesus of Nazareth was perfect and still was literally crucified on a cross. It’s a shame human nature is like this. Drew didn’t deserve this shite.

I doubt he plays another game in NO. At a certain point it's just not worth dealing with the bullshite. It also fricks over his POS teammates who the team will have to dump to fit in the $43.6m dead cap charge. Either way Saints fans your team is fricked.

You don't have to be "silent." You just have to learn to sound supportive while taking no stance at all. Look at all of these brands with all these statements. They mean nothing. They say they stand with black people. So what? I'm pretty sure most people want equality for everyone. None of these tweets actually say what they want to change, what positions they support, etc. They are saying NOTHING yet aren't being "silent." PR people do it all the time. He doesn't have to lie, and he still sounds supportive of black people which he obviously already is given his charity work.

Shouldn’t we encourage people to not run everything they say through a PR rep? I understand that freedom of speech is only guaranteed by the government. but we as a society should demand it from each other as well. If people can effectively be shamed and threatened into silence, then does freedom of speech really exist?

they absolutely do, in fact far more, but that doesn't fit the current hate-filled narrative. facts and statistics simply do not matter to trendy social media chain-letter like post. for those interested however, here are some facts,

"9 unarmed black men were killed in this country last year out of the millions of police/citizen interactions that occur every month.

228 civilians having been shot, 31 of whom were Black, as of March 30, 2020.”

Malcolm Jenkins and any other person in the world who describes words as "hurtful" are giant pussies in my book.
