thanks, glad we’ve got Reddit’s latest perspective on The Prince of Fentanyl.

Latest?

Or are yall still being willfully obtuse regarding the Medical examiner’s opinion?

Absolutely. But this conversation is about George Floyd. He overdosed and wasn't murdered. Stay on topic.
You got me curious about this (I always figured it was a distinct possibility) so I looked it up and his fentanyl concentration at death was 11ng/mL, norfentanyl at 5.6 ng/mL (inactive metabolite), a ratio consistent with recent use. What’s a fatal dose? I looked this up in OpenEvidence and this is what I got. From a med statistics point of view using median is the better value here, as opposed to average. He also had 19ng/mL of meth in his blood.

quote:

Blood fentanyl concentrations in fatal overdose typically average around 10–30 ng/mL (µg/L), but there is no single reliable "lethal" value — reported means cluster in this range while medians run lower (roughly 10–22 ng/mL), and concentrations overlap substantially with therapeutic and incidental findings, making any single number interpretively unreliable.[1][2][3] Postmortem redistribution, polydrug toxicity, tolerance, and sampling site (central vs. peripheral blood) all materially shift the numbers.[1][4]

Key interpretive caveats:

- Wide overlap with non-fatal/therapeutic levels. In the Hennepin series, fentanyl-alone overdose concentrations overlapped with those in chronic-pain inpatients (8.5–9.9 µg/L), and in Ontario, overdose levels overlapped with incidental natural deaths (mean 12 µg/L). A concentration cannot by itself establish overdose.[2][3]

- Polydrug effect. Most fentanyl deaths involve co-intoxicants (benzodiazepines, xylazine, stimulants, alcohol), and death can occur at lower fentanyl levels. Conversely, xylazine or benzodiazepine co-presence is associated with higher measured fentanyl concentrations (e.g., median 17 vs 10 µg/L with/without xylazine).[5][6][7]

- Tolerance. Opioid-tolerant individuals may die at or survive concentrations that would be lethal in naïve users, so ranges in illicit-use populations are far higher than in medicinal exposures.[8][9]

So yes, very possible, enough so that if I were on that jury I would have reasonable doubt that he was “murdered.”

ETA: meth definitely makes opiate OD more likely. While he wasn’t looking like an opiate OD necessarily (ie super sedated) his history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and recent Covid diagnosis would put him at increased risk of badness.
quote:

Methamphetamine co-use markedly increases fatal overdose risk, but there is no reliable single "lethal" blood level for methamphetamine — the mechanism of added danger is primarily the loss of opioid tolerance in stimulant users plus biphasic respiratory effects and cardiovascular toxicity, while reported fatal methamphetamine concentrations overlap enormously with those in survivors and incidental deaths.

You're entitled to your opinion, even when you're wrong.

Did you know that a jury unanimously found, beyond a reasonable doubt, that former officer Derek Chauvin was guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter?

Did you know that three other officers were found guilty of aiding and abetting manslaughter?

So yes, George Floyd was murdered.

but police officers murdering citizens is not a good thing, even when the citizen has a rap sheet.

Said citizen was complaining about not being able to breathe before the officer put his knee on the back of his neck. Fentanyl was the murderer in this, not the cop. He was the victim used to get democrats to pander to them for votes.

Please read the post immediately prior to yours.

Your words and beliefs do not change the fact that George Floyd was murdered.

A jury found that OJ didn’t do it and one almost said that bitch didn’t murder her children.

Ok, you apparently disagree with the jury's decision. You may have voted differently if you were on the jury.

None of that changes the fact that the jury determined that the evidence proved beyond a reasonable doubt that George Floyd was murdered.

I did read it, the problem is he was dying regardless. He od on fentanyl. The cop being prosecuted was because of political pressure. They are trained to do exactly what he did. GF was a drug user and FA then FO. The officer was in the wrong place at wrong time and was used as a scapegoat

I can respect the jury' s decision...what I thought was utter bullshite was the media narrative that there was a epidemic of unarmed folks beng killed by cops and even more bullshite was that unarmed blacks were being killed specifically...more unarmed whites were killed by cops the same year as Mr Floyd's death and yet the whole story became about race. What should lve been a unifying incident got twisted into a cause for division.

Probably the same. Women just simped for a woman who killed 3 of her kids with a workout band.

The exact same. The left isn't known for their ability to think critically or rationally.

I don’t believe this.

Since I’ve seen people tear up cities over pedos and murderers who aren’t even from this country.
This country is full of ignorant wackos who donate millions of dollars to kid who stabbed an innocent boy and a woman who killed her children.

They would do the same exact thing and it would be funded by the same exact Democrats.

The "fatigue" never happens without that incident. A white cop being put in prison for something he clearly did not do was eye opening for a lot of people.

It's the reverse OJ.
