Let’s pretend masks work, wouldn’t it be best to encourage at risk people to wear them, and let everyone else make their own choices?

The actual response businesses should be giving to people who "can't" wear masks is to offer face shields.
But that is too expensive and also puts the burden of enforcement on front-line employees, which sucks on many levels.

The reason we are where we are is because Trump fricked this up in the beginning. FACT. In 2005 GWB added a pandemic section to Homeland Security. $17.5 Billion of HLS funds were allocated to fund medical equipment, etc. A pandemic "playbook" was put together that had directions on how to stop a virus from spreading, etc. You can look it up..
When Obama took office he added to this playbook with information based on dealing with H1N1, Ebola, etc..
In 2017 when the guy you jerk of to... Trump. Decided to completely get rid of it. He eliminated the pandemic section of HLS.
So when this reached the US in late January.. He had no fricking clue what to do. He just sat back and hoped it would just go away. According to him, it was going to just go away like a miracle. Then at one point he said that it seems to die off in warm weather so by April it should have been gone.
People on this board don't want to hear this, but this is absolute fact.
I know I know.. Its "fake news".. I am sure because its something bad about Trump.. Because everything that negative that is said about him is fake news right?
With that said, Trump doesn't need help making him look like a fricking moron.

Regarding your playbook, do you not see the opportunity of the left/media collaborating because of that decision by Trump to make him look like that was the worst possible decision ever? Government programs get scrapped all the time. If they’re not used, tons of times a program gets scrapped. That’s typically called efficiency. So, wait. You're telling me that the past two presidents spent significant resources preparing a "playbook" for a pandemic, but this president just decided to "get rid of it" (how did he do this? Threw it in the trash, shredded it, deleted it from his desktop and recycle bin?), so now we've forgotten everything the past two presidents have done with regards to pandemic planning? Man, that sucks. The US government should back things up to the cloud or save things to USB sticks from now on in case another president decides to delete something else in the future.
