Boss Hogg was an idiot and Daisy was able to use her good looks to have a job and still able to run with the bad boys.

Sorrell Booke, who played Boss, was born in New York and well educated. From his wiki: Booke enrolled in Columbia University at 16, and performed in Shakespearean plays in Columbia's drama club. He graduated from Columbia at 19 in 1949, and received a Master of Fine Arts at the Yale School of Drama.
He was the grand marshal at the Colfax Pecan Festival one year. Came in the white suit and stayed in character all day. Took the stage and went on a rant about those darned Duke boys. Best celebrity guest they ever had.

I used to like Boss Hogg because he had ambition. Like when he had rigged slot machines, its just that his right hand man was a moron.

If I remember right, I read somewhere that he could speak quite a few languages as well.

They were more rivals than enemies.

Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg were friendly rivals as bootleggers in their younger days so I guess maybe there was still a sense of respect there or something to give Daisy a job; plus she was pretty easy on the eyes. There were a few episodes where the Dukes got Boss out of a bind. I think it was kind of a “He’s an a-hole bastard but he’s our a-hole bastard” situation.

Dude, it was Hazard County. It’s not like the right hand man job applicant pool was very deep. Perhaps it’s time to forgive him for the hand he was dealt.

It did. In every show. Multiple times.
