From the overpass of death in Sunset to that shitty continuously bumpy hybrid asphalt/concrete stretch around Carencro.
Good thing tAvoyelles stretch is smooth

If you are headed south, just keep driving. It gets better.

And it's still 350% better than Highway 90 from Morgan City to Houma.

And hwy 90 from broussard to jeanerette is even worse

I 49 is pretty much butter once you get past Opelousas
Best interstate in the country for a couple road beers

It’s still better than the part of I49 in Shreveport between I20 and I220 that doesn’t exist.
How did that happen? Serious question

This ancient, worn-out sign perfectly describes the Louisiana DOTD and politics here:

It says "Future", can't be wrong!

And the guy that ran DOTD for 7 years wants to be governor.

Good thing is the "future corridor" from broussard to houma is a pristine beacon of a road and will surely bring the rest of the interstate up to it's standards.

There was a section of I-49 somewhere in that area that buckled. The DOT just gave up and threw up a sign that said bump in road. That summed up the state for me.

That sign has been there for 30 years

I remember riding out to Moore Park for soccer games in the early 90's and asking how much longer we would have to wait.
So young, so ignorant I was.

Portions of US 90 between MC and Raceland were built “interstate standards” in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Unfortunately, subsidence and the speed at which they built the section over the swamp left little time for the road bed to settle, and in some areas the pilings were not deep enough. I heard a story where they were driving a pile and it took only one push before it was completely submerged in the swamp.

And, isn’t the actual (real not imagined) I-49 roadway that is in Caddo Parish south of I 20 a mess?
Posted on 9/22/23 at 2:53 pm to S
It needs to be 6 lanes between I-10 and 190 to help with evacuations and when I-10 is shut down over the spillway.

Nah, I-49 in Shreveport is the best, well-planned stretch of interstate in Louisiana. 6 continuous lanes and exit only lanes on every interchange. Helps that it’s one of the “newest” stretches.

Not a fan of your vehicle bouncing 5 feet in the air the whole way? Live a little!
