People get murdered every day

Why are people making a big deal about this story?

Because it's a quadruple homicide with a knife, of 4 college students, in a "safe" neighborhood and city, in the dead of night. It's a horror movie, but real.

And because frick that fat, inbred, ugly, diabetic pile of white towels you call a mascot, That's why.

At the 10:43:28 mark, Bryan closes and his eyes and briefly gives off this "you've gotta be fricking kidding me" facial expression.

I’ve given this expression a couple times and not because I was on the lamb for quadruple murders. Nothing worse than being pulled over and the person riding shotgun can’t stfu. Once got pulled over for some routine bullshite and my friend in the passenger seat decided he was gonna do the talking. I’m sitting there listening to him tell this cop how we’re headed to a festival, and we’re gonna have a few drinks and how he can’t wait to eat some damn Greek food. Man I love me some Greek food. Meanwhile the cops is asking more and more questions and I’m just looking at him like will you stfu about some Greek food. Stop talking

The closest major airport to Moscow is, I believe, Boise.

Pullman has an airport. Spokane isn't too far away either and isn't a bad airport at all (flown Southwest there).

I also thought it was interesting that Bryan kept mentioning that "we're getting some Thai food." He's in the middle of fly-over country, in an area he likely isn't familiar with, and keeps mentioning, with specificity, "Thai food."

It's kind of humorous, but also interesting. Maybe he just had a strong hankering for Tom Yum Goong or Pad Thai.

I think subconsciously we all try to connect with a cop when we get pulled over because we are trying to get out of a ticket. For some people it’s food. We are going to eat Tia food or man I love Greek food is our subconscious trying desperately to say please don’t ruin my meal by writing me a ticket. In my case the cop was definitely not a Greek food lover.

I don't know - I'm typically somewhat vague to them (I'm going home, I'm going to work, I'm going to get something to eat, etc.)

Granted, it was a very, very short video, but it came across as if he had something to hide or if he was playing "hide the ball."

I'm the same way. When speaking to a cop or an insurance agent, NEVER volunteer more information than they ask for.

Also, given the circumstances, I understand this argument as well. However, I do not think that dad is "in on it" and "helping him get away with it." The video furthers that, imo.

After the video, I tend to agree. Cop asks, where ya headed? Brian’s like to grab Thai food. Dad’s like we are driving from WSU to Poconos. If Dad is trying to help kid get away, stash car, etc. he’s literally the worst.

His dad has to have some serious freaking doubts about his son’s innocence now though, especially if he was roped into some cross country drive by his son in the car (allegedly) used in the commission of 4 murders.

A New York Times reporter called Thai food restaurants in the area and they said he did not dine there. Guess after letting the cop know that’s where they were going, Bryan decided he was in the mood for something else ;)

Not me. I try to garner sympathy. If you’re on a long trip you gotta let them know that. Was driving with a bunch of kids to Disney (11hrs) and pregnant and had 45 minutes left and needed to potty. Cop pulled us over. Before he could speak i said soooo sorry officer i’m pregnant and i really need to potty and we are coming allll the way from blah blah blah - have been driving for 13 hours and I’m losing my mind hearing are we almost there yet with 4 kids in the back and it’s 3am and i really didn’t want to stop AGAIN since they FINALLY fell asleep so i must have gotten a heavy foot. I’m so sorry. He was m’am m’am please go to the bathroom RIGHT now at the next convenience store! Don’t speed though! It’s not a reason to endanger your precious cargo! My husband was like i told you to stop 20 miles back! Both of us—yes sir! Thank you officer!

So i get it why the dad mentioned where they were coming from and going and how they were driving for “hours… DAYS…”. and insinuating we are trying to get away from the crazy mad world of swat teams and shooters and just get to the peaceful poconos, officer.

Maybe I’m reaching here, but the dad seemed to interject the son when the cop asked a few more questions. Maybe to keep the story straight? Idk

Honestly both are weird af (maybe hindsight) but wouldn’t be shocked if dad knew his of his sons frickery.

Only women can pull this off consistently.

If I tried this, I'd be asked to step out of the car slowly with my hands above my head.

My wife and I disagree on this.
I don't think his dad flying out there to drive back with him is a big deal, but the wife insists that's highly suspicious and proves his dad was in on it in helping him get away with it.

I think his dad was more of an innocent pawn in Bryan's plan, but was aware of the reason Bryan wanted to drive the car itself 2500 miles away.

Bryan calls his dad and asks about coming home to PA for the winter break. This may be something they planned out a long time ago or Bryan blames it on all the crazy stuff happening in that area lately, saying he just wants to get away.

"I don't know if y'all have heard the news, but they're looking for a white Elantra, dad... It's all everyone around town is talking about. I can't even drive my car to the gas station without everyone looking at me. The cops have harassed me multiple times, and everyone stares at me and some have even cornered me everywhere I go! I can't live like this, dad. (His parents assume he's innocent and could never do anything like this by default, as any parent would). I HAVE to get rid of this car, everyone here thinks I did something horrible and I'm being ostracized and harassed for no reason, just because I happen to have a white Elantra!"

"But I can't sell the car here, for obvious reasons. Nobody here would buy it since everyone's looking for some killer in one, and it would just make me look guilty if I sold it.
I'm thinking about coming home for the winter break to sell it there" or "I'm thinking about selling it while I'm home for winter break".

Dad just assumes that his son is going through some accusatory and horrible shite because he happens to drive the type of car everyone is talking about in Small Town, Idaho. Dad feels sorry for his son, "damn thats tough, son. I'll fly out and help you drive it back so we can either sell it or trade cars until all this dies down"

On the way back to PA, dad and son get pulled over twice. Dad knows the situation and thinks that his innocent son is being secretly targeted simply for driving a white Elantra. Hence the nervousness, over sharing, and topic changes. He doesn't think his son did anything wrong but feels like he needs to cover for him and the car, he's nervous for an entirely different reason than Bryan. He thinks his son is being unfairly accused and targeted

I think one was answering where they were going in the short term and the other was answering where they were going in the long term. I don't think they were being deceptive

I would be curious how many white ELANTRA's were in the Pullman and Moscow areas. I believe it was around December 7 when the police first mentioned the white ELANTRA… Certainly his vehicle was noticed by someone that parked near him on campus. No?
