We will be getting a shitton of information coming once he is extradited (hopefully he waives it Tuesday and is back, otherwise it will probably be a couple weeks).
I think the police in this case will give out a lot more than usual once the affidavit is unsealed.

Absolutely stupid

Also stupid unless you have a fake ID and a credit card to go with it. You could not take the chance that the plate was seen. If the plate is seen you're done.

Most people don't have connections to high level forgers though.

He would've needed a car not tied to him with clean plates to drive in and out of town. Even then, his best bet is to have the car destroyed and have it disappear. Most people can't have that done.

Considering what he studied the guy was an amateur looking to get caught. A knife made it messy. No way are you getting out without DNA all over you and then not spreading it in a vehicle. No way.

I believe that will be discussed Tuesday. The waiver is to waive his right to fight extradition, not to waive being extradited

For being a criminology major he wasn’t too bright as far as trying to not get caught. He took his own vehicle? Rookie mistake. Could have rented one and possibly never found.

I think the play is to change your license plate somehow, either steal one from another vehicle or edit your own plate with electrical tape or something of the like.

ETA: obviously this works better if you drive a vehicle that is relatively common, I’d still be screwed because I drive a vehicle that was only made 1 year (color was brought back only for that one year ). If you drive a white sedan or pickup this would probably work.

PS - I also feel like there is going to be another gotcha to this story.

ABC news mentioned that the biohazard crew was supposed to start cleaning the house on Friday but was turned away due to “a major break in the case.”

The Chief of Police mentioned this at his press conference after the arrest. Said a judge ordered the stop. Did not elaborate on who asked for the motion, defense or prosecution. The clean up company said they had basically just started and had to pack up all their gear

I think this was a frenzy killing based on the number of victims and the alleged “overkill”. He may have planned out a lot beforehand but once he got in there it got a lot messier than planned.

I don’t think there’s any way to stab 4 people as many times and as deeply as investigators have hinted to without causing himself. The knife handle would have become slick with blood quickly causing his hand to slide down the knife blade after only the first few stabs.

There has to be blood and dna evidence in that car if he drove it from the crime scene even if he thinks he cleaned it really well.

Still the potential you’re caught in the act of that, you leave DNA in that as well, you have to dump it somewhere - leaving another scene, they could have GPS to track you/use your location during trial, etc etc

Well sure but that’s with ANY of the options presented…there are risks with each. DNA can be collected if your butt gets in any vehicle. But stealing one is the least likely way you set yourself up to be tracked of the three. If you use your car, that’s obvious. I guess you could fake some ID to rent a car but that still leaves witnesses if nothing else. The stealing part of course is not risk free but damn, it’s a lot less risky if getting caught than the other two ways.

They might be less likely do want a high profile one like this. Too many gawkers.

Nicole's neighbors bought the house on Bundy just to tear it down so rubberneckers would quit coming around.

They specifically said it was a military style knife. The Marine Corps uses a Kabar, like below. I am guessing it was a no on the slipping up the blade. I do believe he was somehow injured and left blood. I also think he left skin cells under his victim's fingernails, and touch DNA around, from the struggle.

Guys, he wouldn't have used a gun, because his Mother was avidly anti-gun and had written extensively to the local newspaper about the danger to life that is associated with gun ownership.

all this should have allegedly somewhere. But his Mother's multiple letters to the editor, written from her secure gated community emerged early.

Assorted other stories, some from students he taught

? His Father was in Washington state and drove to PA with him.

Was argumentative with women in a class he TA'ed, one accused him of mansplaining and walked out.
