Were those things made of asbestos or something?

As I understand it, the primary suspect for the increased cancer rates is silicosis-related. The WTC towers were steel framed but concrete floors and exterior clad panels. Upon the force of each structure's collapse, almost all the present concrete was violently pulverized creating huge dust clouds of dry concrete molecules. Then some of these tiny silicate particles were breathed in by everyone in the area. Lungs do not like this type of exposure and the dust goes into them and never can come out. Cancers are one of the eventual side-effects.

Don't be a puss. That pic captures the situation that day very well.

No, you wouldn't.

If there is anything I take away from 9/11 every year, it's that there are some that are too sensitive about it, and some that are too insensitive about it. But what really gets me every year is how much both of these groups get all in your face about it

I'm in no way being a dick and if it came across as such, I apologize. If you would look at the third post you would realize I did not set out to derail it. Just to show you, here is a second contribution to the thread, two more than almost everyone in this thread.

Rescue workers carry fatally injured New York City Fire Department chaplain, the Rev. Mychal Judge, from the wreckage of the World Trade Center, Sept. 11, 2001. Judge was crushed to death by falling debris while giving a man last rites. I beleive the priest was considered the first official death of the attacks. RIP

that is really sad - every time I see these photos I really get pissed off at my fellow liberals who seem to give Islam a free pass.

Aside from the terrible photoshop, the viewing deck was closed that day and the weather was way too warm for a winter jacket

Can you at least read the thread? How about contributing a photo instead of worrying about me

Sort of piggy backing off of "The Falling Man" photo. Apparently a homemade video on youtube exist of hearing & seeing people jump out of WTC. Because the whole aspect of that messes with my head.

I've read interviews from first responders where they talk about the sounds of the falling. That may stick with me more than anything else I've read about that day.

On a side note, the whole "never forget" thing is kind of trite IMO. "I'll never forget that day" has always seemed weird to me. No shite, nobody will, especially someone involved in it. Maybe I'm just jaded because of the people on the news who were robbed or had their house burn or whatever saying "this is something I'll never forget." Well...yeah.

After I'd posted, I saw you had responded and realized everything I'd written was already discussed. That's my bad

You can hear bodies hitting in the pavement in some of the videos, it's terrible. The whole Never Forget.. always struck me as a sort of catchy bumper sticker slogan that just stuck nationally with 9/11. The only way to forget an event like that is to give yourself a lobotomy

They actually found who this man was. They did a doc called "The Falling Man" that finally identified him.

One of the worst pics you could see from that day
