If ICE has some sort of bonus for meeting a quota, all they have to do is raid every barn at race tracks. Roughly 75-80% of the people there are illegals.

I think if I lived in a foreign country where I was afraid to leave my house whatsoever, I’d probably go back to where I came from.

Call me crazy I guess

Because they're here illegally. Not a lot of sympathy.

several organizations and restaurants are creating care packages and delivering them to the homes of people who request one.

Why do people enjoy funding the destruction of their own country? It's because they're illegal themselves and/or simply elevate foreign nationals and nations over the country in which they live.

They don't deserve us and should be deported or charged, too, because it's one thing to say you are just helping humans while things play out regardless of whether those things are right or wrong, and it's another to go affirmatively on the side of illegals.

then you shouldn’t support all of the dumb social media videos and antics the White House and DHS/ICE are doing.

Nice deflection. I love a classic, "But you're not doing it the way I want you to do it."

There may be some alternative options, I would suggest speaking an immigration attorney. FWIW the bar for over stay of 180-364 days is only 3 years, not 10.

Yes, the forms I printed out and reviewed are very complicated which I find to be a problem with our system. Here you go foreigner who barely knows English and figure out these forms that are more complicated than our tax code. What you are running into now is the lawyers jacking up the prices due to skyrocketing demand and scammers. We had one person pretending to be a lawyer for an NGO trying to scam them for $795. As much as I hold her accountable for over staying you cannot help but say wtf when you look at our system. Doing everything correctly is adventure in itself and one mistake costs you a lot of money. There has to be a better way.

I say the same thing. My gf has a couple of homes, a nice SUV, and part ownership in a family business that seems to do well. She's still trying to make things work here. She constantly sites the value of their money, as well as our relationship, for her wanting to figure this out while she still can.

Bold prediction there: the incumbent president’s party struggling in the midterms. Groundbreaking analysis.

When, not if, that happens, it won’t be because of social media vibes or hurt feelings over posts. It’ll be because the party in power isn’t getting a damn thing done.

You proved my point.

The sitting president's party generally struggles at midterms. Way to go out on a limb there. Doesn't mean the substance of this policy is wrong or that the voters aren't simply disagreeing with other policies.

If those folks are already in the legal process and doing it the right way, why are we turning them away at the last step of naturalization? They're doing it the right way.
It was never about the "right way" for immigrants. It was always about making america less brown again.

I never said it was. I want mass deportation and we aren’t getting. Instead we’re getting totally hilarious edits on twitter.

a great deal of Americans do not approve of what ice agents are doing in the first place and all of the tasteless gloating is an unforced error, and it’s just trashy

It does mean Republicans need to get off their asses and pass some laws in 2026 that any Dem congress will have to have veto override numbers for two years. What is passed should prove beneficial and to be viewed as positive by enough over those 2 years to factor into the 2028 elections.

The Dems already tried to go nuclear on cloture in the Senate. Republicans in the Senate always have enough RHINOs to allow them to push their judges as well and cloture on things the Dems will never budge on, and the Dems still pushed to end the 60 vote cloture rule in the Senate. The 2 Dems that stopped it aren’t Dems or Senators anymore, so any newly elected Dems to gain a majority in the Senate will push it thru. Republicans just need to adjust and do it first as it’s coming anyway regardless of them trying to play nice when they have the majority.

Instead of worrying too much about midterms the Dems push through big legislative bills in the first 2 years of a Presidency when they also control Congress (including under Biden’s Autopen when Republicans allowed cloture in the Senate on them). They play enough dirty politics to keep the Senate for an election or 2 longer than polls appeared going into the elections, but even without the Senate they keep their core and big programs they passed the first 2 years in place due the Presidential veto power. Republicans need to start expecting midterm election issues and pass everything they can at the start. They have already wasted one year.
