Levi Cowan discussed how there could be some dry air once it hits the gulf so that could prevent it from becoming a major hurricane.
We'll all take anything we can get to take this thing down a few pegs. Still don't like that stall, though.

If I remember correctly there is a trough that will leave some dry air that could be sucked into the system once it hits the gulf. The models do show that if you look at the relative humidity model runs

Stupid question, but the numbers around the circles (like 1020 or 1018) represent millibars, right? Trying to estimate what conditions would be like in my area if the storm was off the coast.

There is a chart on the internet and posted somewhere on page 7-9 of the thread.

Looks like all favorable trends so far on the 12z runs.
Certainly love the drop from the 930s and 940s.

I think some people ITT want to break news and post any chart, graph, model they can find.
Most of us should stick with shitposting, memes, and questions and leave the weather charts up to the few people that really know what they’re looking at/talking about.

Let em' play. That game would be interesting as hell to watch under those conditions.

That's why I've always thought there should be 2 threads once a system enters the Gulf. One for that and one for serious posts only.

I think many Auburn fans want the game played and for LSU to end their suffering.

saw video of 30 year old pine trees hitting the ground one way, whipping back to the ground the other way, then snapping 20 feet up like a twig. All of them! It looked like someone took a weed eater to the trees from Panama City up to the FL/GA line.
This is about a mile away from my home about 5-6 miles north of Lake Charles. This is just one of the thousands of pine trees that were twisted like tooth picks. It was the first time I’ve ever seen that happen also.
Not trying to compare, just showing off the damage that was similar from Laura.

Even if this storm does not shoot the gap between the Yucatan Peninsula and Cuba - only slight topography on the west side of Cuba as well as the east side of the Yucatan. You then have to contend with the Loop Current over the eastern half of the Gulf (i.e., rapid intensification)...
The Gulf fo Mexico Loop Current

Is the loop still 'there'?
