In 1979 before that hurricane hit, the dunes on the western end of Pensacola Beach (Gulf Islands National Seashore and Fort Pickens) were huge with small oak and magnolia growing on them. Fred cut the island about half way between the entry station and Ft. Pickens. That would be repaired and restored. However, the storm surge just washed away a century’s worth of dunes in that area that even after 40+ years has not returned to what it used to be. (Not to mention Opal and then Ivan’s effects.)
They had a massive dune known as the Sugar Bowl Dune that known to attract those that like to party. Gone after that storm.

In those seas that far? Oh hell no. 4-5s is enough to slow most boats down significantly.

That’s a helluva ride from SW Florida.

Thanks - we are on the Brevard County beach and still getting tropical storm-strength winds - it's been ~24 hours now.

Then put it on a trailer and tow it inland or tie it up with some long lines and make sure your insurance is up to date

Is the Star Fish Company ok?

Should be ok. Wife’s cousin lives right down the road and they are fine. There’s also not much to that place replacing a piece of sheet metal or two is easy.

They also got power back earlier today.

Good luck..they’re canceling shite left and right. I stopped at the grocery tonight and you’d thought they had predicted a snowstorm.

Do pay attention to the huge trees way past their lifespan that snap in a regular thunderstorm. Someone seems to get killed yearly by one of those.
