Been to St. Augustine several times, that is unfortunate all that history being destroyed.
St. Augustine has flooded like this dozens of times in the last 20 years. Also, the history was destroyed long ago when they turned all the buildings on those cobblestone streets into ice cream and tchotchki shops. The structures will all remain, and the t-shirt store owners will get their insurance money to re-stock their chinese made wares.

Has anybody a friend a NOAA to see if satellite imagery is up?
After Katrina, Satellite images were used for an initial scope out of the intercoastal (as well as homes that were still there. ) (One of my house guests found from satellite that both his Momma's home and his sister's home in Mississippi near the beach were gone. I can only expect that the imagery is even sharper now, years later.

They'll have hi-res images out soon enough. After Ida I think it was two or three days. They work from the worst areas out and overlay the images in the large scale.
I'll try to find a link I saved to the Ida images where it may also have the Ian images when they get them.

Anybody Hillbilly speakers on here care to translate this?

This is the page that I saved that had the earliest hi-res satellite imagery after Ida.
NOAA Hx Ida Imagery
I imagine the Ian images will be posted to the same site, but on a different page.

My son lives in St. Augustine and he told me a few minutes ago that downtown is under water.

How’s your son and his home?
Posted on 9/29/22 at 1:51 pm to tiger91
He's good. His neighborhood has water but not flooding. Most of it is downtown.

...and those pesky onshore winds driving the Atlantic into the streets.

I think you've tried to keep up pretty well. Is there anyone from this thread we haven't heard from?
I saw stuntman posted. And Lanier has posted.

Whose is your cell provider? I heard TMobile and Verizon took a beating
Verizon. I drove around Sebring and there was service down Hwy 27 but not in most neighborhoods.

Idk Legend … I seriously wish I’d kept a running list of people.
Liz I think may be the only one that I can think of but I’m sure I missed some.
Btw, have a friend here in Louisiana — her MIL stayed at their home in Ft Meyers .. hasn’t heard from them yet. Hoping they’re ok.
Edit: Her MIL ended up leaving Ft Myers but not sure of home condition. At least she’s safe.

Slagathor hasn't updated. She was shacked up in a Scrip club out in the Tampa area. She might just be sleeping after a long night and evacuee influx of cash.
