I just found out the surge did not come up our street. Sadly for most of our friends that is not true. Massive damage to total destruction for their homes but they are all safe. I may try to get to our house this weekend as we left with small suitcases and could use some more clothing.

Dang man. Happy for you. Sad to hear about your friends. Good luck to them on rebuilding.

It could have gotten washed out of a parking garage, but still. Secure that.

Damn, just found out a fellow weather forum poster I know from Storm2k lost his mom in Ian. No idea if it was stress-related or something with the hurricane itself, but that is horrible news. His name is "Sanibel" for obvious reasons, been a really great poster over there for years. shite.

The center of Ian is moving offshore and signature is still quite healthy per regional observations and radar appearance.

Its too early for him to jump back over water.

Still a lot of work to do for it to strengthen, depite being pretty damn coherent coming off Florida.

Any word on PGI in Punta Gorda? Did it take on a lot of water?

Holy shite.. Cape Coral.... 1000's of homes all linked by canals...

I checked it out on realtor.com to see what they’re working with and nearly all of them are also one story homes on slabs. I’m assuming that entire coastal area will need to be rebuilt.

A cat 1 storm would not be "devastating" to Charleston. It would certainly be a bit messy, sure, but come on!

My Battalion and Brigade is in Charleston. Storm surge and downtown flooding is the biggest risk for Charleston. They don’t expect it to be like past storms but flooding is expected. Regardless, Charleston can flood easy with just a normal heavy rain storm.

One of my coworkers lives in Naples but works here in Orlando during the week. He didnt put his hurricane shutters up over the weekend as he didn’t think he would get hit. Apparently his place is okay. He lives 6 miles off the coast.

Yeah it was posted later that guy had both of his insanely expensive cars in his home garage and it washed out.
