another storm chaser tweeted out that he almost got sucked into the surge by a vortex in the water... only thing that saved his life was an auto-inflating life vest

I saw that I think he would've rolled down the street if he didn't catch hold of that sign

Except the bottom of the gulf.

Tampa dodged the worst of it but those areas where it came ashore - God Bless!

Tampa, Houston, New Orleans and Miami are likely the most vulnerable major cities and with these types of storms recently, God help us all in the future.

Folks around Fort Myers and Port Charlotte might be letting their guard down because they're in the eye. Just heard one local reporter say "maybe the worst is behind us."

Bro.

LOL.

Why would anyone in a gulf coastal city think this?

Anyone know if this is true:

With a Cat 5 designation a homeowner's insurance would be liable for the total damages. Cat 4 or lower, most homeowners are on the hook for a percentage. If a Cat 4 storm is subsequently re-evaluated as a 5, but that reclassification happens after the "window" for claims, homeowners are not refunded for their deductibles.
