I'm right on the canal. Winds whip through there hard during regular storms...can't imagine what it's like now.

I want to thank all of you that counseled me to leave. It feels good to be safe in Miami.
I’m not sure if I’ll have a house to go back to and with two large dogs that is more than an inconvenience but we are safe.
Friends houses on the fingers across Vanderbilt Beach Road from us are already suffering major water damage. If the surge gets much worse which I fear it will my street is next.

How's your power, I saw you had some flickering? Mine has been solid. Duke spent a lot of time and money hardening the infrastructure around here this past Summer.
There's another poster in Highlands County. He had a couple posts and pictures of his dock. He was in this thread for a while. I asked him where he was located and he never got back.

Yessir, one of the better spots in Apollo Beach, although shopping is certainly limited. Only so many times you can spend $60 lunch for two at Circles.
