I can remember my grandfather keeping logs of pressure using a barometer on his wall.
Those old-school dudes had an amazing sense for weather patterns just based on the conditions immediately around them (and years of experience being passed along).

The eye is clearing out by the second. I would be surprised if they don't upgrade this to 160 mph.

You sound triggered. If Jim is so bothered by Cat 5 storms why does literally chase down and try to get right in the middle of one.
The subtle passive/aggressive by Jim is trying to imply that man made “climate change” is the reason for it, even though the founder of the Weather Channel has stated it’s the biggest hoax put on the world ever.”
It’s like the Mormon religion and Joseph Smith who has been completely debunked but people still choose to ignore the facts and follow along like mindless drones.

But we chose to stay so it is on us. No matter what it is going to suck for a few days (or so). Love the way that Florida responds though. They do as well as can be done.
My uncle in Sarasota said hardly nobody evacuated there or south of Sarasota. A lot evacuated Tampa but not many south of Tampa

Yup, historical data shows only 6 majors in last 57 years. It was much higher in prior 50 years. Can these TV people stop with their BS trying to inject pol into any storm? Here’s the facts.
“Since 1965 this will be the 6th major hurricane to hit the Florida peninsula south of a Cape Canaveral to Tampa line. The 50 years previous to 1965, there were *16*”

Yeah I see what you're saying on the smaller interval satellite imagery:
You can see it on water vapor, too. It ain't struggling with dry air right now.

If you're looking for silver linings, the strongest east side wind recon is finding is roughly 130mph.

Wow. This storm has been something to watch over the past 24 hours. Any updated info on storm surges? That thing has to be bulldozing walls of water.
Typical I named storm. It’s like it’s resilient to land interaction, dry air, shear. Just keeps getting bigger

So my friends who stayed, on the water, in port Charlotte... going on 8 hours of silence now. I can only imagine the amount of regret they're currently experiencing.
They are fine. When you evacuate FL WTF are you gonna go? South to Miami or 5 hours north?

Everyone had a barometer on the wall growing up.

Where is the updated projection to make landfall? As of last night thought it would be south of Tampa

Hurricane Audrey in June of 1957 caught many off guard. Killed 400 people in Cameron and Calcasieu Parish and 16 people in SE TX

He's talking about how every recent season there's a hurricane that bombs out to cat 4/cat 5 right before landfall. Not just about Florida. It's not a climate statement. It's an observation. Harvey, Michael, Laura, Ida, Ian. That's just off the top of my head.
