Don't know Tampa very well but I've got a friend in Dunedin. One of her brothers is in Tampa and the other one is in Downtown Tampa with his wife and new baby.
All are planning on riding out the storm but the Dunedin folks are the only ones with generators.

Downtown Tampa has a bunch of water around it and if that surge is correct I hope they are high up and the winds don't get to crazy. I would definitely not want to be there with a new baby and a scared wife.

First, I’m very sorry for what the good folks in Florida are about to endure. We’ve been there, and it sucks. Hopefully something happens that can spare you some misery.
I read today that Fed Nat Insurance went bankrupt today. I hope no one that is about to suffer property damage get screwed over. Not sure what the insurance market is like in Florida but it truly sucks in Louisiana.

My man those are both in the line of fire for this Hurricane I will not tell you what to tell them but Ian's current course puts them right in the danger. I just feel bad for the Husband telling the wife with the newborn "Don't worry baby that is normal" and things go south.
eta: Not trying to be a debbie downer but I have been in a hurricane with a wife and young children. Let's just say the stress is overwhelming and the thought of we should have left definitely crossed my mind.
