Is there a better radar to use in the OP? The storm is almost out of the picture.
Here is a satellite link that stays centered on the storm. You can click to view different things like clouds, water vapor, etc.

That gif looks like landfall Friday into Saturday, yes?

I’ve got friends that live in St Pete’s Beach and Seminole, they’re both on the fence about what to do. Friends in Fort Myers are staying and keeping their boat dry stored at Sanibel Harbor Yacht Club.

Not good if Ian slows down with onshore winds blowing into Tampa Bay. They have never seen storm surge like this if Ian stays just offshore.

If 75 is stacked up, follow the signsto I-4E to Orlando. Go to exit 32 and take 98n 10-12 miles, then go N on 471 through Webster. It will end at 301. turn right and you will go straight to Ocala.

I am planning on heading to Santa Rosa for a week on Friday. Does anyone have an opinion on if I should still plan on going? Should it be better by then?

Might get a few showers on Friday but other than rough surf, it will be fine.

Ugh, not liking the prospect of being on the east side again like with Irma. It's not so much flooding to worry about in my area as much as wind damage/trees/tornados. Matthew, even though just being the west side punch, spawned a tornado not very far from our house that tore up just about every other power pole up one side of the road down the other. Left us without power for roughly 3 days and no running water because the idiot local private water company didn't bother to check that their generator wouldn't go kaput when fired up. Thankfully, we have a generator and well water on top of supplies, but that still sucked. And I know not nearly as bad as what other people in other areas have been through, but still wasn't fun. Especially since that was our anniversary gift that week/
Time for the husband to test our generator again today, I guess. :/ Everything else we can do to prep has been done and supplies stocked. Just waiting now.

If this map holds (It will shift) the storm will be 300 miles east of SR.

Have friends in this area. What’s their projected impact currently?
Just some rain & gusty winds? Not sure if I’m missing some larger threat

I evacuated to Santa Rosa for Ida last year. Exceedingly poor, ugly weather even with the distance to the storm, caused by the storm

Yeah but you were on East side of Ida. This will be the opposite.

Pressure at 983 mb now. At least it isn’t bombing out - yet.

Err'body don't forget to have enough 2-stroke oil for chainsaw gas, and oil for the chain.

The cone is covering Santa Rosa and most of the panhandle still. I wouldn’t bet on it being in the clear.

Landfall could be as soon as Thursday or as late as Friday evening depending on exact track and the steering.
Key message I would stress is that it seems tropical storm weather is likely to be experienced as soon as tomorrow and last for several days.

Hurricane Checklist
For those currently in the path of the system this is the time to try to get extra meds (trust me on this one) and to especially go through the (important documents) section. If you evacuate take pics of house and each room/contents prior to leaving ( I lost everything when my house flooded in Harvey). If in doubt about leaving find a parking garage and park extra cars in an covered upper level away from the exterior - thoughts/prayers from the Zappe family.

Thanks, I’ve been up that way before. My brother will probably be with me but I’d prefer driving him as he has some health problems. He used to know all these little back roads, he was a Matco tools distributor. I’ve just moved back the last 5 or 6 years. Spent most of the prior 30 years in Louisiana.

The Euro this morning had it basically stall off the coast of Florida for two days, that would be devastating for Florida if that comes to pass.
Let’s hope it stays a little more off the coast and weaker.
