Dumb question but I need some knowledge. What times do the spaghetti models themselves run? I know they are 00z, 06z, 12z, and 18z but what times do they actually come out?

My (very basic and possibly wrong) understanding is that those times represent when the model started being run, therefore marking the point that the data collection froze in order to be fed into the model. Those number you're referencing are GMT on a 24 hour scale, so 00 is midnight, 6 is 6am, 12 is noon, and 18 is 6pm. GMT is +6 from CST, so the 00 run starts at 6pm for us. When it "comes out" is simply based on when the model finishes running and the result is uploaded. I'm sure it depends on the model, but just eyeballing it over the last few days, it seems to take an hour or two from start to finish.

But like I said, I'm just figuring this shite out, so I could be all kinds of wrong

ETA: Changed 8pm to 6pm because I apparently can't subtract tonight.

Just a little more tense than I generally am this far out, which as a rule, is not tense at all. Just an odd shift for me. But like I said, I assume I'm still a bit off from last year.

Man, you just described most of Louisiana the last couple of years. I get it… Laura PTSDed a lot of SWLA, just like Ida did for you.

A hate this time of year.

Been through a handful of major hurricanes living in south Louisiana over the last three and a half decades or so, but Ida was my first time staring one down as a homeowner. Just hits different

My problem here Duke is that the cone’s west boundary was at 85W. Now that is the center line. Again… SELA still in good shape but FML I hate the gradual shifts 5 days out.

IDK, I wait for someone to post them here most of the time.

Lol same, I never know when they’re actually coming out. I know the run times for most of the main models, but I never know when the spaghetti models actually run.

Very helpful link. The only issue with the spaghetti models is that they don’t seem to actually run at 0z, 06z, 13z, and 18z.

If it is any consolation, I thought the original NHC cones were too far East and South to start with.

Aren’t you and Winston Cup roommates in Austin and are huge Longhorn fans?
