East and West bound have wrecks between 1077 and 1085.
Still moving slowly.
Just a heads up

18 wheeler climbed on the back of a tanker East bound with another one flipped over in the woods. Whole lot of rubber necking going on before Goodbee.

In fairness, that sounds pretty wild.

You never know if 12 falls off the earth on the other side of that bridge.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Yup, and they are all afraid of that big long acceleration lane and feel the need to try and merge at 30mph.

Lovely.... I live on 1085. Were you meaning between 1077 and Hwy 21?

Rubber neckers disgust me more than homeless people. Just drive, assholes. Unless there is a body it's not that interesting. Find your carnage on the internet when you get home.

When I-12 was being built, we used to hike out to the construction area and walk around the bridge. One day, someone came up with the bright idea of jumping off the bridge into the river. The first person or two did fine but then a girl did it and came up from the water screaming in pain. The impact had dislocated her shoulder. That put an end to the fun.
A little bit to the east of the bridge is a cement culvert that runs under both lanes of I12. You could reach the culvert by boat through canals by Three Rivers Rd. We used to drive jonboats as fast as you dared to go through the canals. There was about two feet of clearance on either side.
Dumb. Fun, but dumb.

No the wreck westbound was like at the 1077 exit
The east bound wreck I could see from 1085 as i drove over the interstate.

I-12 from Slidell to Hammond needs to have five lanes of traffic on each side of the interstate. You'll never solve Baton Rouge's dysfunction but at least you can solve this important corridor. Also the Bogalusa to Lacombe Hwy needs to be started on too but DOTD is too dysfunctional to speed up that authorized state highway system which was authorized in the 90's and has yet to break ground.

I left North Oaks Hospital in Hammond about 5:50pm and got on I-12 at Hwy 51/Exit 40. Made it to about Airport Rd before traffic stopped. Bailed out at Hwy 445/Exit 47 at about 6:30. It took me 30 or 35 minutes to get past the 190/Hwy 1077 intersection. Another about 15 minutes to my destination.
Basically, a 30/35 minute drive turned into about a 90 minute drive. If I had stayed on 12, I might still be out there.

We just came down 22 from ponchatoulan to madisonville. The line at 445 to turn on to 22 seemed extremely long.
Is 12 still backed up? That wreck didn't look that bad.

I jumped off it once. Never again. That shite hurt so bad I couldn't walk the rest of the day my feet slapped the water so hard. Everytime I go home and cross that bridge I chuckle and think how much of a dumb arse I was in highschool.

Damn. I wouldn't waste a plug nickel on that project either.

I don't know if it's still backed up or when the accident cleared. But at 6:30, I-12 east was crawling at less than 5mph, if not stopped completely at Hwy 445. That's 10 miles from 1077. At 6:00, it was very heavy traffic all the way back to Airport Rd, which is probably about 14 or 15 miles from 1077.

I'm sitting in it right now. I wish I would have seen this thread earlier before I decided to make a Biloxi run.
