They were going to bring it back but Pontiac got axed before they could deliver.

This was based on the Holden Ute from Australia like the G8 was based on the Holden Commodore. The good news is that if you really want one, then you can buy a US street legal Holden/Pontiac/Chevy El Camino.

When I was in elementary school, I stole some chrome air caps off some tires of an El Camino once...that's all I got.

No. For people who have made up their mind that they want a truck or a car, my friend.

Just get you a restored vintage one. Those will always be cooler than any new one that gets produced.

But those colors though...the only colors I remember were puke green and some shade of rusted burnt orange. I am sure there were others but those 2 stand out.

I had a friend who loved El Caminos. A few years back he had two or three. One was always parked outside the Hawk's Nest where he worked. He owned one that was black. I don't know if that was a factory color, but I always assumed it was. Not a bad looking car/truck, really.

When I practiced in Texas, our law firm's senior partner had a beautiful original El Camino. The partner had bought a desk and wanted it moved, using the El Camino, to a satellite office.

It had rained and there was a plowed black clay field behind the office. To get to the back door, you had to drive through the field. It was a mud mire. Our summer clerk drove the El Camino into the mud, burying it up to the frame.

Needless to say, he didn't get a job offer after graduation.

There must be 50 crossovers on the market for people who can't make up their mind between a minivan and a station wagon.

El Camino is so much cooler than the "minivan of pickup trucks".
