I don't have words to describe how different life was in the 90's than it is now. Everyone was just generally more peaceful and accepting of others. You could have actual conversations and unique opinions without being cancelled. Someone could say something off the wall, and your response would just be, "oh, that's cool," and you genuinely tried to see their perspective.

We were also unified as a country in the 80's/90's, for the most part, so when 9/11 happened, we grieved collectively, as one American people. I don't think I've ever felt as patriotic. If that happened today? Oh my. It all went down hill with 24 hour news channels. CNN and FOX literally pitted people against one another and we all got played.

And take the American Eagle Sidney Sweeney ad. Good grief. That would be completely normal then and nobody would bat an eye. We would just think "she's gorgeous" and move on down the mall to look at the shirtless dudes in the Abercrombie display windows. This pic pretty much sums up 90's advertising.

I will contend the 90s were the best time to be a kid.... technology was advanced enough to have badass video games and the internet, but no so advanced it stole our childhood. We could still disappear with our friends for hours on end on our bikes...we used AIM to communicate, but would be unreachable when we stepped away.

Truley the best of both worlds....but everyone's partial to their childhood

Absolutely. We left S Cal in the mid 70s for the South and it felt like I lost a little bit of freedom with my hair. The South brought other joys tho.

I am old enough to remember when Kids rode bicycles.

Not a bunch of 40 year old tweakers.

So Yeah, I would say that the 70's 80-'s were better.

Well, back then only actual nazis got called nazis and no one was chopping off their genitals on purpose, so there is that. The internet has really fricked up society and made it much easier to manipulate people in the most ridiculous ways imaginable.

The main thing I remember fondly about the time before internet and cell phones was good times never being interrupted. If you went out to do something fun, bad news couldn't ruin your good time because you had no way of knowing until you got home.

It was pretty fun for a kid, but the best, probably not. When I was a kid in the 1970s and 80s I always heard how great the 1950s were. Just depends on the generation in their 50s and 60s who are thinking nostagically.

Teachers were rubbing up on students, you just didn't hear about it.

I loved em. With my work, the tariffs have caused some uncertainty and we’ve been down lately, but I think that will turn around in the next half year. I’m definitely getting some vibes similar to 80’s and early 90’s. I hope it continues.

Interesting that the gas price was "so high". I remember gas being ~$.99/gal when I started college in 1993.

Of course that was in central Texas which might have had something to do with the price.

Yes it was. Of course because technology had not yet taken over. But that’s not the main reason.
The main reason is because the bullshite didn’t exist…political correctness wasn’t a big thing.
The alphabet people screaming about ridiculous gay and trans crap didn’t exist. Gays kept to themselves. If you said you were some “trans” crap, you would have been rightfully branded a freak.
Even the leftist politicians weren’t whackos like they are now.
The perpetually offended class of people didn’t exist. The faux outrage business didn’t exist so people weren’t lying in wait to destroy people.
Even the news was better, not like the crazy leftist media is today.

People just lived and let live. Except the Ruskies. We sent Patrick Swayze into the Colorado mountains to kill them all!

The 90’s were awesome. Great music. We had enough tech to be helpful but not take over life. Hollywood had original movie ideas and the production quality was realistic looking and not full of CGI. You didn’t have some sort of political or social messaging being pushed at every turn. Models were all beautiful women and we didn’t have to pretend to be accepting of fatties. Kids still played outside and actually had to go hangout at each other’s houses to play video games with their friends. Steroids were still in baseball and the home run race was exciting to keep up with all summer. Wrasslin was at its peak. Best decade of sitcoms and comedians didn’t have to worry about who they offended. It was a great time to be a teenager

NO. 60s. This. Generation. Is not even close to The Greatest Generation and. Baby Boomers. Far better especially. With. “ Respect”
