When did this happen? I am pretty sure she is well over 38.

She's a year younger than me.

Maybe first diagnosed 3 yrs ago.

I am happy to hear she is improving, but wow, what a tough gal. Met her a few times back in the day at LSU. Very good person and friendly. I hope she enjoys life and lives way beyond this.

Crazy how life throws challenges at you. Live life to the fullest and enjoy friends and family. It will be gone before we know it.

Not sure if it was on here but someone put a WYHI post of her. And the most common comment was that "she had big legs". Someone commented that she is a workout warrior.

First I’m hearing about this but she never ever looked healthy to me.

I always thought something was wrong with her, as in she was sick

I've literally crushed on Jenn since she was a reporter on WAFB.

Being a Pels fan, she's on TV in my house a pretty good bit. I never knew she had anything like this going on. Glad she got it under control.

No kidding. Today I found out my former trainer was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30. She’s one of the most healthy, fit people I know.

Would be rough if the vest discharged at an inopportune time.

I had a friend that went down a similar path with his heart from about age 35 to 55. He had a implanted defibrillator for most of those years, fired off only twice, first time he was driving, caused him to hit a utility pole and total his car, the last time he was actually in a hospital office doing paperwork to get in a heart transplant program, unfortunately that time he didn't make it.

I can't believe she took so long to see a doctor. As soon as I'm waking up to breathe in the middle of the night, I'm hitting the ER.

Was walking down Conti St 3 or 4 years ago on a Saturday night, saw Jen Hale laughing and having a good time with her girlfriends. She was wearing a wide. black hat. We both laughed and talked about 30 seconds. I told her she looked great and went on about my way.

She’s always struck me as a good, kind person. From one human being to another, we never truly know the battles we’re all going through.

Good luck, Jen. You’re awesome. Your impact on people is your testimony. Just like Chet’s.

Worked with her quite a while. She's am absolutely class act! Whip-smart too. Glad that the road ahead for her has opened up.

I am surprised that she has declared herself healthy at the end of the article, despite her heart working at 50% capacity. Wonder if the doctors would agree.

50% ejection fraction isn’t bad. I assume that’s what the % relates to here.

I think 50 -70% is normal. You can make it with 15 % or even less.

Yeah!

“Years of drinking had swollen my heart to the point of bursting. It reached the point where the doctors gave me between six days and six weeks to live. They installed a defibrillator to keep my heart from stopping and keep it beating at a steady rate. After the operation I began therapy and miraculously my heart started to heal."

Slash: The face of cardiomyopathy. Also Jenn.
