The rebel flag is something for poor people to admire as a way to pretend the deep south was ever great

Man I completely understand, I never said that I was ok for what it stood for in the past. I've seen the photos of black bodies swinging and crowds of white people waving the flag in the background. I've seen the videos of white people protesting UofA protesting integration while waving the flag.

The question I posed is why poor whites wave it and rich whites don't. And no, I'm not bothered by civil war statues and rebel flags waving.
I've got better things to worry about in my life than that flag. Me worrying about that flag is not gonna pay my bills, or put my kid through private school.

My ancestors fought under both flags in the civil war

I understand it’s a emotional thing and I understand why some black people hate it. I also understand why some white people love it.

It’s not a big deal to me.

My father is a confusing person. He is from up north loves the Rebel flag and votes Democrat.

I could have bad info on this but I'll take a shot:

It's referred to as an 8 ball because it is 1/8th of an ounce? So therefore, there are 8 8balls in an ounce.

The court was painted by Eddie Palubinskus in 91-92 basketball season at CPS.

I didn't even attempt to try to answer that question... because I don't care why poor white's fly it(but I could guess it has some to do with being poor and being white)...

And you still don't see the problem someone would have with it huh???

Wait what ... you sound stupid... you think I don't pay my bills... or my kid not in private school... I can do that but at the same time be mindful enough not to consider anyone my friend who proudly displays a confederate flag... you can only argue that dumb arse point you trying to make to a fool...

I don't go out my way looking for the confederate flag... but I know damn well to go the other way when I come across it...

Most people on either side loose site of this.
Georgia added confederate flag in 1956. SC added it to state house in 1961. Both of these should have been changed/taken down.
Mississippi adopted flag in 1894. They should keep it. It fits state history more than changing the flag during the height of civil rights.

Was glad Louisiana never changed

Truth be told, I’d say probably somewhere around 90% of people who claim to be bothered by the Confederate Battle Flag only care about it for these reasons

1. People are sheep
2. They’re told they’re supposed to be offended by it
3. The cool thing today is to be offended

I live in a town that is 80% black, and there's not one brother in town who (1) gives a shite about a Panda bear and (2) would have a screen name with Panda in it.

I remember it being painted. I was in the 7th-8th grade around that time

I’m white

I don’t give a second thought to the flags or statues.

I think being offended by them is silly.

I really don’t understand the significance of it. If someone wants to fly it, fine. If someone wants to ban it, I could care less.

Completely 100% disagree. And it’s not out of support for the Confederate flag. Instead it’s because I don’t want the government to have the power to ban any flag.

We (southerners) let the kkk racists appropriate the symbol. It’s over. Let it go for now.

Upper class people tend to socialize more with different people, have something to lose, and don’t want to do anything stupid to offend people that could cause backlash.

Also many poor whites have no success to be proud of, so they flaunt their heritage as a way of clinging to some sort of southern pride

I can't imagine being offended at a flag. Or a word.

there's people out there that are offended by the American Flag as a symbol of racism.
