So, what’s wrong with the electric chair?

He declined the electric chair and lethal injection. He wanted firing squad

Sigmon was offered the choice of death by lethal injection, electric chair, or firing squad, but chose the latter over concerns about recent issues with injection executions and the condition of the state's 'ancient' electric chair.

Good.

And?

Bro, the whole rigamarole about the different methods and the constitutionality hinges on the “cruel and unusual punishment “ clause.

Tell me why the electric chair and the lethal injection and the panoply of other methods were rejected and replaced by a shot to the heart if it doesn't provide a relatively consistent, quick, and painless death?

I’m not crying about the death row inmate. I’m wondering why this method is acceptable when the others being fussed about and legally challenged were not.

Who in there right mind would volunteer for this?

Three prison guards that could not get a job on their local police force.

Explain how this man shot in his heart will lose consciousness instantly?

He had zero cardiac output instantly, so his brain didn't receive any blood supply. He lost consciousness immediately.

I don't claim to be in my right mind (mostly left brain anyway) but I'd do at least one of them.

They’re gonna shoot him in the heart but it looks like the chair is sitting in a capture vessel of some sort.

Brain activity can last as long as 15 minutes after the heart stops. First heart attack I had the heart straightlined for 4 minutes. My brain was still "thinking" but there was no connection to my body. Might as well be a brain in a jar on the shelf. Not a good "feeling" even tho there was absolutely no "feeling".

South Carolina spent about $54,000 in 2022 constructing an area for a firing squad in its death chamber. It won't be far from the electric chair.

54k for that setup? They coulda strapped him to a chair at the firing range and it wouldn’t have cost the taxpayers a dime.

You should know better.

He may have gone into shock... But the brain didn't stop firing instantly.

In front of a hole, shoot him and knock him into the hole and be done.

Why a target over the heart? Fire into the head. Instant death and lack of brain activity.
Also if I had to choose, I'd choose firing squad as well. Seems like the most "humane" option.
