there wil be some fault placed on the dash cam driver, Louisiana is a "comparative negligence" state.

For this exact reason when I'm in traffic like that, I get in the far turn lane and don't ride the close one

Not enough defensive drivers on our streets and highways these days. You must pay attention to the vehicles way up ahead of you (8 to 10 vehicles ahead).

if you have a 16 year old car and don't have enough money saved to buy another car, especially used, you have major money issues.

Basically this.

I wouldn't feel safe traveling in a 16-year-old car, ESPECIALLY in Baton Rouge or on I-10.

He never even slowed down. Was he texting or OTing? Looks like he wasn't watching the road.

It was the Lexus fault but that guy could have avoided the accident if he would have slowed and payed attention

They both are. The guy in the Lexus was trying to cross like a moron and the guy driving the Civic(?) never even tried breaking or dodging (meaning he was paying attention to something else).

The Lexus looks better after the collision ripped the front end off.

Avoidable accident but primary fault with the a-hole cutting across traffic into a turn lane where they can't see.

Would have been safer for the Lexus to line up in the lane that it is in and then use their mirrors to move when clear...but I think they were actually trying to turn left across 5 lanes from Perkins Rowe. That's really stupid when there are at least 2 traffic lights with protected left turns they could have taken.

Lexus caused the accident for doing something incredibly stupid and not looking for incoming traffic. This accident was avoidable though. Dash cam driver needs to slow down and expect people to do something foolish. He's not a fault, but had he noticed the Lexus at 0:10 - he may have been able to honk the horn, swerve, or brake in time to avoid it.

At 0:12, I would expect the Lexus driver to be looking to their left. They are clearly not. I'm shocked that Civic driver didn't swerve or brake at that point. Not the Civic driver's fault though.

My thought as well. What the hell? Guy had all day to slow or avoid the Lexus.

It could have been much worse if the Civic made contact with the Lexus at the driver's door instead of the front clip.

Lexus driver probably avoided serious injury by less than a second.

Whenever I'm coming through a line of cars so that oncoming doesn't see me, I always creep my way out slowly so anyone heading that way can easily react. Shooting out when you think you have an opening is not the right way to do it.

ETA: Granted, in this case it looks like the Lexus was coming out pretty slowly, but the dashcam idiot was still oblivious.

Both are shite drivers.

The Lexus is at fault, clearly. But Dashcam had no swerve reaction to try and avoid a collision with the Lexus, or even a "shite" until after the hit.

Guess what, skippy? You're NOT SUPPOSED to pull out blindly into traffic and rely on oncoming traffic to see you. It's your fricking responsibility to make sure you know what's coming and yield appropriately regardless of whether or not the traffic that has the right of way knows you're there.

The drivers in this city are aggressively moronic.
