If you've adopted the cat, how could it not be yours?

I might or might not own a cat.
You have been adopted by said cat.

It believes you are a nice fellow with a nice family but are too dim to adequately care for them.

Therefore it has now, out of affection and necessity, taken to feeding you and your’s with mice on your doorstep. Soon to be followed by rats, squirrels, and the odd pigeon or blue jay.

If you don’t dispose of them quickly, feigning eating them, your new cat will take a disciplinary shite on your pillow or favorite recliner.

Be advised.

Another cat showed up tonight with the current cat.

The new cat got another mouse.

They might be attracted to mice near my house.

Tomorrow the yard is getting cut.

I have been adopted by a neighbor's cat as well. He was an inside-outside cat (mostly inside, though) until the neighbors had a baby a couple years ago, then he became a predominantly outside cat (except for when the weather is really cold or hot, then they bring him in).

I would always be friendly with him when I would see him outside, and then eventually I bought a bag of cat food to have around and would feed him sometimes. Then as he began to trust me, he let me pet him a little.

Then finally after a few months, he took the leap of faith and followed me inside my apartment. He inspected every square inch of the place and decided it was a cool place to chill, so he started coming in more often.

Now, he will show up and sit with me on my couch and let me pet him or if I am laying down he will sit on my stomach and expect me to pet him. So he has me trained well

So as I have read, apparently he has "imprinted" on me and does all the things cats do to claim their territory, like rub up against my door frame and such. He is a sweet cat. The neighbors say he is about 7 years old. A basic Tabby cat. The neighbors still take care of him and all, and they are cool with me bringing the cat inside.

The neighbor lady was telling me that the cat still brings them dead "gifts" from time to time and leaves them at the door, but luckily he hasn't done this for me.

It is pretty cool how the cat went through the whole process of finding a second "family" when he wasn't getting enough attention due to the baby.

It's a she. Probably your cat. What you want me to do about this? She wont leave.

Can you post a pic?
However it’s not a huge deal. We don’t actually like her that much. You can keep her.

Outdoor cats are weird. My in-laws have a few. They'll come by, stay for awhile, have a few kittens and they'll all move on. There's a possibility that at any point in time any different combination of any 30 cats will be over there. Keeps the rodents and snakes away for the small investment of keeping the cat food bowl stocked. Win/win.

I had a neighbor try to claim an orange cat we brought home a few days before then. Damned orange cats are too friendly. Neighbor went inside and grabbed the cat after I asked them if they had seen him. Sometimes I wish I had let him keep that cat because he's a pain.

I have an orange female, which is apparently rare.

I leave a window down in the car with a makeshift bed in the back seat. She's in there a lot.

That happened to me. Cat shows up, pushes his way into the house, and sets up camp like he's always been there. Nice cat, very friendly and fixed. Good thing too, because she weighs 18 lbs. He mostly stays around the property, but makes his rounds at dawn and dusk. He comes inside, but goes outside for business matters because I won't have a cat box in my house.

Had him about a year when he came around for breakfast with a cut just below his eye. I brought him over to the vet to get an antibiotic shot and they scanned him for a chip. Turns out was chipped. They contacted the owner and she contacted me and arranged for her to come by and pick him up, which she did.

About a month later he shows back up at his usual morning feeding time. He's been hanging around ever since.

TL;DR: Have the cat scanned for a chip.

I read this last thread last night. About 6 months ago, this cat shows up at my house. We called her Stacey. About 3 months ago, we had to change its name to Steve.

Anyways, I’ve been feeding the cat 2x’s per day! I was reading this thread last night and thought that I had a democrat.

Well this morning, went to feed Steve on the front porch, laying there was a dead mouse.

He was proud of it, he had to show me what he brought!

I want him around for mice, rats and snakes. Thanks!
