It’s existentialism
He will come off the cloud when reality slaps him in the nuts. The world is too fricked up to always be happy. Not being depressed doesn’t mean you’re happy
If you are never depressed, sad, defeated. It means you don’t care about anything. If you don’t care about anything, your life sucks
Enjoy the moments of peace and good, but don’t bother rationalizing it. You don’t figure out the meaning of a happy existence walking your dog at 3:30am, you find a moment of peace which admittedly seems special because it’s a break from humanity which is increasingly rare in a world that more connected than ever

Actually happiness comes from realizing where you are and planning your next move. The sunrise looks the same nomatter where you are on the earth.

I feel the same way when I'm camping at the river at night listening to the water run sitting in a lawn chair smoking a bowl with a cold beer and watching for my rods to bend.

I get that feeling while cruising in my speed boat about 25mph barely on plane listening to classic rock with a cold beer on a nice breezy day
