I have the opposite problem. Shaved my head long before thinning became a problem to show my allegiance to the brotherhood. But now everyone assumes it's because of thinning hair. Minorities will actually try to shake my hand....its despicable.
On a serious note, anyone who shaves actually pay to get a haircut? I'm tired of doing it myself(mostly the cleanup), but feel stupid paying for such an easy thing. Theres a place next to work that does unlimited cuts. It is far from cheap, but if I go twice a week at lunch, it'll stay looking clean. Just haven't paid for a cut in years, so it feels stupid.

I always feel bad for guys that gave up on hair and shaved bald. Did your doctor at least off testosterone shots to let the hair grow back?
