Paid mine in February this year. Feels very strange not to care that today is April 15. First year in many that I’m not completely stressed out on tax day.

Extension is to file not pay. If you owe and don’t send payment today you’ll get hit with penalties and interest

Got a good one, still going to pay.

I like to hold onto my money until the last minute.

I wrote a $2,700 check for cap gains of which the government took 0 risk.

We paid ours earlier this year. Ended up owing a little over $1k back. We definitely aren't rich.

Wrote a check for $8600.00. Above what was taken out already. Wife and I both claimed zero exemptions with a minor child tax credit. Taxes suck when you make decent coin.

The tax code has become extremely progressive to the point the lower and middle class don't pay hardly anything. Trump's tax plan made it worse IMO.

Chalk this up under "Things middle class people say."

To your quote specifically --- people are true idiots and don't understand that those that make actual money, have to pay actual taxes.

The rich can get their overall tax percentage quite low, lower then the middle class even, YET --- they will stay pay more in TOTAL taxes.

Simple math, obviously isn't simple for everyone.

Yep. The general population is pretty ignorant on taxes, which is understandable given the complexity of the tax system.

Got 1700 back from federal but found out I owe the state a little over 2k in property taxes that were supposed to be paid when I closed on my house. Should be fun trying to sort all this out now

This is the first year in about ten where we got a refund instead of owing.
