My brother-in-law (the one that helped lsu_tiger_az with his foot fungus) recently bought a Bosch dishwasher but can't remember if he got the 500 or 800 series. He says he has a third rack at top of dishwisher.

Anyhow, he is pleased with it so far.

Besides cleaning well, of course, I am most interested in a quiet dishwasher. I like the idea of not even knowing that it is running. So, something under 50 dBa.

Anyone have some advice on Bosch dishwashers or buying dishwashers in general? I have never had to purchase one.

We just bought a new one, got a Maytag. Super quiet, looks great (stainless steel) and the price was right. Make sure whatever you get has a built in food disposal.

Check the ratings at a site like Best Buy, Sears or Tiger Direct. Bosch is one of the most expensive brand but not the most highly rated. Depends on how often you wash and how much. Environmental regulations have killed the age of the great dishwashers.

I have the same Bosch with the 3rd rack. It cleans awesome and is so quite the only way to tell it's running is the light on the bottom. The biggest pitfal is the European companies do not put a heating element in them, they use steam. If you don't open it up when it's done the steam condenses back to water and soaks your dishes again.

Mom and Dad bought an 800 series about 6 months ago... It's very quiet. I had to replace mine ( a Kenmore) the Saturday after Christmas. I bought an LG that was broken (circuit board was fried) and the service tech was going to take a month to get here... Went back to Stine and they replaced it with a Frigidare and I'm happy (50dBa)

I have bought 2 bosch dishwashers in my time, the kind that are really quiet. Have been very pleased with them.

We've had the Bosch for a few years and it's quiet and cleans well. It wasn't any more expensive than other brands. Replaced a GE that was noisy and didn't clean worth a crap.

We just bought this one LINK and used it for the first time today. It's very quiet and did an excellent job. We bought it on sale, I wouldn't pay the full amount listed on that site

Our GE Profile is a piece of shite. I'm leaning towards Bosch when I replace it.

I've had a Bosch the 16 years I've been in this house and I'm sitting next to it while it's running now and I can't hear it. Never had any problems at all.

Yes, I two have a GE Profile Dish/Microwave & both are SH!T. Avoid anything made in China.....wait, is that possible besides Bosch?

I just bought a kenmore elite. Rated out much better than a Bosh and Sears was having a sale that included free installation.

I'm not sure exactly what the DBA's are, but I can't hear it run. The controls are all on the top of the lid, so it's frustrating sometimes to know for sure it's on or not.

I would have to decide if I want the handle that runs across the front with the hidden controls or get the controls on the front.

I miss seeing the lights. Of the 4 or 5 times I actually tried to start it, it didn't start.

I have the stainless steel Bosch.

Defines quiet. But it could dry better.

I have heard that Bosch is extremely quiet but doesn't clean the best. I have heard Meile is decent. Also DCS makes a dish drawer that is pretty neat.
