Remember guys, the only thing that Texas has to offer is downtown lifestyle, BBQ, football, live music, nice houses, professional opportunity. Is that really worth trading for San Fran's weather?

apparently in CA he has to pay to go to some public parks? i've never heard of that in my life.

I seem to recall reading something a while back that some parks in some areas of CA are limited to adjcent residents, and those folks who weren't have to pay, or some shite like that. I may be not remembering correctly and whether that was a to be proposal or it already exists.

I left the Bay Area, made it 3 years and now we are back and house shopping. It’s expensive, but it’s worth every dime. We love it. The weather alone is a reason to never leave.

Not sure on this but many of our parks are state parks and have entry fees or you buy a yearly pass.

The thing that California and Austin definitely have in common is that they're both very expensive. Austin is not cheap

This has to be bullshite. I've never met a single person who will get mad at you for your lawn being too green.

Nobody anywhere I've lived in Texas has ever given a shite about water restrictions. All of my neighbors water their lawn no matter what.

Also, his electric bill being high is more than just b/c he doubled his home size. That pool pump running all day is going to jack up his bill too.

Aside from a few decent points about some things being more expensive, the author is a whiney bitch.

Let's look at point 9, for example: Punitive, militaristic schools and sports

quote:

We had three kids in the local elementary school, rated 9 out of 10. For sure some of the teachers were excellent and very caring, but the school was run like a micro-managed military academy.

Oh my. The school was run like a military academy? It must have been a place of true horrors. What were some of the examples?

quote:

Our kids complained most about the PE and music teachers (aren't they supposed to be the fun ones?). We heard stories about kids running laps or missing recess just because they didn't sit "criss-cross applesauce." Who thought of taking away recess? And it seemed the more ignorant the coach or teacher, the more he insisted on being addressed as "Y'Sir" — which is still the norm, even in Austin.

There was a massive emphasis on conformity that was good for teachers, bad for kids. I went to read to my kindergartner's class and felt like I'd landed in a dictatorship. They had aides making sure all of the kindergartners faced forward while marching in line to the cafeteria. Kindergartners.

That's right. This petuli-loving, tree-licking, dipshit got his mangina all sandy over teachers daring to attempt to instill a small amount of discipline and manners into his kids by teaching them how to properly wait in a fricking line, the repercussions for not following rules and...wait for it... introducing them to the local culture of being polite and showing respect to your elders by addressing them as "ma'am" or "sir".

Instead of that he would rather raise them in an area where the norm is to avoid the human feces on the sidewalk while the various governments reduce restrictions on drug-addled behaviors. Twenty years from now when his kids may be the ones shitting on those sidewalks he'll be wondering where he went wrong.

This guy is obviously getting paid by the CA Gov't. Similar thing happened in 1750 when Germans were leaving Germany (H.R.Empire) to settle in the USA. Gottlieb Mittelberger was paid by the German Gov't to sail with other Germans on the SV Osgood (1750) to write a log about the horrors on the transit and living in the new world. Just an attempt to dissuade others from emigrating.

This current guy is being paid to write propaganda to persuade other not to leave CA.

PS: It didn't work in 1750. Some people aren't stupid.

CA is full of Communist, degenerates, sexual deviants, and all around weirdos. Austin is the new landing ground for these people fleeing CA. If you are white (hterosexual, non-jewish, non Beta) you will be hated unless you live outside the major cities. Many Patriots live in THE OC and other ares away from the main metro areas.
