when Al Copeland had his boat in the Metry parades and all of his trucks, cars & motorcycles. They were a fun bunch and nobody got run over by them.

Hard to believe it’s been 12 years since the King died.

The best is when they would throw the wooden doubloons for free 2-piece meals. People would slide on pavement for those things.

Week day Metairie parades are dying a slow death.

The 77 people out there have a lot of space. Actually, Metairie parades offer a nice alternative. It's not quite as hectic as getting to a New Orleans parade. However, they seem to be struggling to hang on when a parade like Caesar that was huge can't even put on a parade anymore.

For some reason I read this as Al Capone. I was like “Damn, I didn’t know Scarface was in to Mardi Gras?”

Al Copeland was sort of a gangsta in his business dealings. He was creative. He sold Popeyes, but kept the rights to his recipes separate to continue making millions each year through the recipes. Then after he died, his family sold the recipes for 42 million dollars. Pretty genius of Al.

That is because you really don't have the kind of Mardi Gras you guys used to. No more Ceasar or Zeus or Napoleon which means less opportunity. Now, 25-30 years ago...lots more opportunity.

last night vets was jammed packed for the two parades. hell little rascals had a huge showing this year as well. the new route consolidates things and it’s a good time for those with kids that don’t want to deal with the challenges of uptown.
