Mass transit sucks arse and balls. The only thing worse than the NYC subway is the Underground in London.

I like the CTA in Chicago. Always come off the L with a story

You would love the Metro in Paris then. A lot of stations are themed differently:

Jules Vern Steampunk

I've seen enough on the Instagram subwaycreatures to be okay not participating in that slice of life on an everyday basis.

I mean it is.

Then again most large urban centers are dirty, liberal, and a hellhole.

It is pretty great
I do miss it right now though.
I’ve just been walking to my office. Takes a bit longer but with the subways on different schedules I’d rather just leave a little earlier

The NYC subway isn't horrible. Just don't ride during peak times.

Some of the cars are clean and new have good A/C. Some look like shite but the A/C generally works ok.

Taxis are ok but the drivers usually smell like farts.

Eh that’s all overblown
I expected that moving here 5 years ago. Was very surprised
I guess crappy boroughs (queens and the Bronx for sure, parts of Brooklyn that haven’t been gentrified) and neighborhoods are this. Mine isn’t though

Well ya, any place can be nice if you have enough money. I just meant in general.

Then again I don't like people, so prefer not to live in places with lots of them crammed together. Been there, done that, won't do it again.

I thought the same but it’s just been different here. Great community everyone friendly etc
It’s a liberal voting city but not close to the liberal we get in California.
And also the people in my inner circle aren’t that (liberal)

My wife (no pics) has been doing a series of posts on her FB about her E-Train Adventures for the last couple of years. The last one was of an older black gentleman with an awesome Blues-singing voice singing about "Going Back to Mobile, Alamaba". Apparently the only lyrics are "I'm going back to Mobile, Alabama".

It's hard to capture the energy of NYC. I think people get it or they don't.

I've been a lot of places, and it's not my favorite and I don't want to live there. But there is nowhere else like it and I get a good chuckle at the folks who go to Times Square, call it shite and claim they never want to return.

The NYC subway is an absolute pit

The only train system in this country that is in any way enjoyable to ride is the Chicago CTA

I may have had to suck it up and live off the Addison Red Line stop for a couple years but it is so nice it makes having to take the train into work enjoyable

The NYC subway makes you want to kill yourself

I rode around in London and thought it was fine. Also rode trains in Italy and enjoyed it.
