As a child I liked to combine these two into one game I called "Maul The Pigs"
Also, Mystery Date:
“Haha you got the dud, he looks just like you poindexter!”

Most have been mentioned
Ticket to ride (my 9 year olds love it)
Puerto Rico - Excellent
Splendor - Excellent
Cataan - Excellent
Not mentioned:
Wallenstein
Europe Engulfed/Asia Engulfed (Seriously long)
Panzer Leader
Of course Axis and Allies
One I'm trying out:
Case Yellow 1940 (German Blitzkreig in the west) - You gotta like the study of tactics
One I've never tried: Agricola. Heard great things just never tried it.

There are reasons why Chess and Go are still going strong after thousands of years but they're probably not what the OP intended.
Has anyone played The Red Dragon Inn? Its simple and very funny, especially if you try to match your character drink for drink.

Cranium. Great 4+ person/party game. (until you've played each card in the original box, and the expansion packs) Good times up to that point.
