Well, sure. In this instance.
But it’s not like she isn’t known for donating her money to various charities and disaster funds. Millions of dollars when you start adding it up. Billboard points out some of the bigger/known donations.
I guess my question is at what point is it “enough” for people to respect it? Is there some standard figure she has to pass?

News flash: about 90% of actors/musicians are as well.
I can only take so much Ted Nugent in my playlist.

all those who say "it's a drop in the bucket" should look at it from the point of view of the recipients. To them it is a flood.
Using that logic, should we look at it from the POV of every worthy fundraiser who didnt get flooded by tswift?
Look, its nice. But are we really white knighting for every charity donation from a billionaire? I’d rather stab my eyes out than have to talk about Bill Gates 70 billion dollar charity foundation.
If thats what we’re doing, then we’re missing several thousands threads on the OT. OR some posters just really like tswift and want to make sure everyone else knows how charitable she is specifically.
Since no one in this thread can admit to a modicum of white knighting, i will take their word and await the avalanche of charity donation threads to be posted shortly.

dear god - the Rock and Oprah get shite for asking for donations (and rightfully so imo), but Swift does something nice that she is not obligated to do, and you guys bitch about her.
there really is no way for some of you miserable fricks to be happy. I am not a Swift fan by any stretch, but for fricks sake - how about trying to not find something negative in every fricking thing for once.
Just answer the question jackass………….

Why not just make the donation anonymously.
Because then you idiots would be shitting on her for "not giving anything".

That said, it's probably the equivalent of a 250 dollar donation from an average dude. Which is great, but nobody is writing stories about it.

The other, cynical side of me wishes this was done anonymously.
People calling out celebs for not doing stuff anonymously or in secret annoys me. How do you know what she does or doesn’t do secretly? That’s the point of it, it’s secret.

I don't give a single frick about Taylor Swift.
Its pure commie bullshite to denigrate the rich and say by donating something voluntarily, they didn't donate ENOUGH because of how rich they are.

Ah yes, Oprah's Maui fire response that many on the OT compared to Dolly's fire response in order to shite on Oprah. Nevermind that Dolly and Oprah had pretty much the same response with an initial donation and then set up a fund/charitable organization to solicit donations from the general public.

The guy said he’d have more respect for her if a story was written about her secretly visiting sick kids in the hospital.
Think about that one for a second

Im not denigrating the rich… im denigrating the posters who are falling over themselves to talk up tswift charity but not all the other filthy rich people who give tons of money.
There is a difference, but wouldnt expect the slow bunch to understand.

On the list of horrible fricking people, Swift isn’t on it.

Legend, you are correct - I completely spaced the Dolly situation with Gatlinburg.
my point is, people just look for the negative in everything now.

I don't understand why celebrities don't just do this anonymously. It is obviously not for their own personal satisfaction. Set up a meet with the family. Give them the debit card that has access to the account or the name of the contact that handles it. If the public ask why TS hasn't stepped up then she should say it was handled privately. And stop talking. All anybody needs to know. Shaq isn't calling the news crew everytime he buys a kid a bike in Walmart.

but want is the equivalent value to the person receiving the donation.
That 100k is a lot of money to that family. Same as $10 to a homeless person.
It seems like anytime a story comes up where a wealthy person makes a donation/gesture, the internets reaction is the same.

On one hand she will never miss the money and will be repaid back in positive publicity so it does seem self serving.
On the other hand, this behavior is far better than Alyssa Milano doing what she did on GoFundMe

No, it’s not. $10 buys a homeless guy a burger or another hit of meth. $100k pays off a mortgage or helps pay hospital bills.
I get that $100k isn’t a lot to Swift, but y’all need to stop pretending that isn’t a huge help for a normal person.
