The butter in my fridge doesn't just say butter... it's listed on the back what's in the ingredients

You know what a chicken egg looks like. Especially at the store.

It doesn't look like a Duck egg, or a goose egg, or a robin's egg, or a quail egg.

Butter will just say butter. Unless it comes from a different source, which will be labeled.

Maybe on some labels it may say cow's milk, but you are just being pedantic

I goobled that word and no I'm not.

I'm simply considering the possibility that something has been done to the egg, either chemically or genetically that has resulted in it no longer meeting whatever criteria needs to be met for it to be an actual chicken egg.

So therefore, farmers and Government regulators simply called it an egg.

I still never understood why we are the only country that refrigerates eggs.

Because we can afford to. Have you ever seen the tiny refrigerators these needle dick foreigners have?

I've seen refrigerators in Asian countries. They're pretty frickin' small.

I'm disappointed in you, Fackler. I gave you more credit than that.

Nowhere on the package does it tell me what kind of egg it is. What species of egg or what sort of animal produced this egg.

What are we to infer from this?

Ahh classic which came first chicken or egg scenario.

Since the egg technically isn't a fertilized egg, thus there is no chicken in the egg you are eating. Therefore you are eating just an egg ...and not a chicken egg.

What can I say?

This thread can end now. Thank you for this.

True. But the reason for this is because they go to the markets everyday and get fresh food, enough for a day or two. Unlike Americans, that mostly rely on packaged convenience foods, they don't use their fridge for bulk storage.

This was one of the first of many examples that opened my eyes to how Europeans, in some ways, actually have a higher and better standard of living. They eater better, for less.

Their standard of living is pitifully beneath ours. Look at the table below. The only countries similar to the US in home size are Australia and Canada. As P.J. O'Rourke wrote, "I'd rather be a junkie in Houston, Texas than King, Queen and Jack of every one of you Europeans."

Country House Size (square feet) House Size (square meters)
Australia 2303 sq. ft 214 sq. meters
Austria 1043 sq. ft 97 sq. meters
Belgium 1293 sq. ft 120 sq. meters
Canada 1948 sq. ft 181 sq. meters
China 646 sq. ft 60 sq. meters
Denmark 1475 sq. ft 137 sq. meters

I’ve learned it’s because in the U.S. the eggs are rinsed clean which removes a protective coat which would otherwise protect it and allow it to be stored at room temperature.

Lemme ask you this: how come you never see a penguin in real life, just on TV?

Or penguin eggs, for that matter.

The best eggs come from choupique or sturgeon, but not many of those are pasture raised.
