Tell them it's a crime to impersonate an officer of the federal govt, that the call has been traced, and that the person will be arrested in minutes.

I can represent you and negotiate better terms with these guys. Wire me the money and I'll get it settled for pennies on the dollar.

Don't worry, man. I got you covered. I'm expecting my millions that I inherited from a long lost Nigerian relative to hit my bank account any day now.

don't know if anyone falls for those.
but i can 100% confirm that if the IRS thinks you owe them any money, they send a certified letter to your house.

I bet old people fall for this. Because they seemingly fall for everything. It's sad.

If you get a phone call from the IRS, you can hang up- its a scam.

If you get a certified letter in the mail, call your lawyer. Thats how the real IRS contacts people with tax-related issues.

Dude I worked with had a prior arrest and he was told paying his taxes in a timely manner was part of the conditions of his release... He was freaking out a bit.

I told him he was an idiot for even admitting to ever being arrested to an unknown person on the phone...

There are a few YouTube videos of people who keep them on the phone for 30 minutes or more pretending to be a gullible and willing participant and just effing with them about one thing after the next.

Old people usually do, it's pretty sad...

My parents got a scam call about my nephew being stuck in France, and he needed money to get home... Instead of calling anyone and finding out if he was even out of town, they almost wired money... I told them he wasn't out of town that it was a bullshite scam... They finally believed me...

What's crazy is, how do they get my parents with their grandson's names in a scam together...?
