Keep them on the phone as long as you can so they can't harass another person.

I actually feel it's my civic duty to screw with them on crap like that.

The number is very likely spoofed..so tracing it will do no good.

The telephone companies should stop allowing spoofing of numbers...and put in a software/hardware stop to it.

People are afraid of the IRS. It's why I have a job, really.

I had one call as Cleco Power and and convince me they were shutting off power to a healthcare office in an hour if the bill wasn't paid. They had the address, the name, and the amount very close to two months unpaid. I figured it out when they wanted me to go to Win Dixie and buy two $500 gift cards and call them back with the numbers on the back.

I kept them on the phone for about 30 minutes before calling them out.

I had another call as the medical gas company. I asked him what the account number was and you could hear him making up numbers as he spoke. I continued for a few minutes and then asked again what the account number was and he gave me a completely different number then hung up.

yea if you want zero knowledge on the issue and a legal fee bill

You think a tax lawyer would have zero knowledge about an issue with the IRS?

Yeah, I have a friend who's grandfather was scammed hard. He's really old and has a lot of money, so these scammers hit the jackpot with him.

I get a lot of the "windows support" dudes telling me my computers been compromised. Only problem is I don't have a PC, I only have a macbook pro. I just love messing with them.

Same. I've pulled out an old windows laptop when they called before. They are the easiest to mess with and keep on the line. "Wait, it's still loading. I can't find it, let me restart my computer." They have to start all over.

They usually say "Grandma, it's your grandson!" And she says" Billy, is that you?? You sound funny! " Then they're in.

Just send them your social security number, credit card information, and your drivers license. You'll see how quickly things will work out for you.

The IRS does not make calls on debt...at all.

It's a scam.

Report it.

So you took my original post to mean that I have a job because i'm scared of the IRS (not because I'm a tax professional) and then proceeded to laugh at that logic, but you can't see why that was a silly inference for you to make?
