I have bitched about LSU out of state scholarships on here before

But thank you to LSU Admissions for listening to us. The initial offers that went out yesterday were very generous. Lots of happy parents this Thanksgiving!
Just putting together what I’m seeing in the parents group:
15k/year minimum for test optional
18k with submitted test scores
24k with good test scores
Plus Tiger Legacy for children of alumni.

Is this back? I know 5 years ago when my oldest was looking for a school LSU did not have the alumni discount. My son went to A&M because his best friends wanted to go there. LSU was not a serious contender much to our chagrin.

Colleges should stand on their own and not on tax dollars. It’s just another form of welfare.

And it’s a $15,000 “minimum” amount for test optional

It’s like $2k now but it’s there.
LSU used to waive out of state tuition for children of alumni. They got rid of that under F. King.
The out of state scholarships have been stingy while Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama and the Texas schools have been picking off bright Louisiana kids.
Sounds like the new regime has a new outlook. We were expecting $8000 a year and we got $26,000.

I'm sure the distribution of this money will 100% match the application demographics.

My son was a 2020 HS grad. We toured LSU but there were no offers then. Like I said, he was dead set on the Aggies.

Ole Miss has her heart I think, and it’s in state so she gets MESG. But good to see LSU competing.

Ole Miss offered me way more than LSU did 40 years ago. My father was from MS and followed OM religiously. I stuck with LSU though. Had a much stronger support in BTR.

What are considered good test scores? Do they have similar scholarships for instate kids on top of TOPS?
I have always been under the impression that TOPS wouldn't cover everything.

No idea exactly. I’m guessing 27 based on what parents are posting.
We had a 30 and got the $24k.

I just can’t even process how much it costs to go to college these days.
After scholarship, my entire Tulane Law School tuition and fees for three years was about 1/3 of ONE YEAR now. And LSU was even more stark.
Between that and health “insurance,” it was absurdly cheaper to live 25 years ago, even putting aside housing, energy, and consumer inflation.

My daughter is a junior and scored a 30. How are y’all getting all this scholarship money? I assume our high school college lady is going to help us with that.

This isn’t TOPS this is the total scholarship? Are kids eligible for this money that are currently at LSU?

This is ridiculous BS. LSU is a joke now with open enrollment plus crap like this.

You’d be a retard to rely on the ‘high school college lady’ and not be proactive
Hope in one hand and shite in the other ….

High school counselors are worthless. Got to do your own research.
Lots of deadlines around December 1 for big money scholarships. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you have a chance this weekend.
ETA. Sorry you said she was a junior. You have a year.
But you need to become the expert.
