Fobs have actual keys inside of them.

I doubt they want me to be able to get into this car once my rental is up.

I know.

If you're aggravated by the bulk, I don't understand why you wouldn't just cut the cable and reduce the size by over 50%. Keep one fob in your pocket and the other somewhere else.

Sounds like you're trying to reinvent the wheel.

Look way up in the guts to the left of the brake where all the wires are. It's pretty far up there but the code is written on a small white strip.
5 digits.
Your welcome.

With what? I have finger nail clippers and nose hair scissors, but nothing for a cable.

Go to Lowe's
Walk to tool section
Find pliers/wire cutters
Clip cable

You won't have the keys so it doesn't matter.

I never considered cutting the cable. Seems like it makes no sense at all for them to give anyone two keys on one fob ever.

They sell these cars, so try to keep both sets with the car.

I had a Chrysler rental a couple of weeks ago and it had the key you leave in your pocket and press the button outside to lock the doors and the button by the wheel to start. I liked that.

My Ford has this

There are key holes on the driver door. Its underneath the plastic escutcheon that you can pop off with the key. Of course, those are proximity keys, so the door should unlock once you pull on the handle as long as the keys are in your pocket

Is it keyless start? On my F150 if you put one key in and turn it to on, then immediately do it with the other key it will display the factory code. Then you can set a door code.

Yea, it's keyless. Going to check under the dash when I get a chance.

Try the fuse box. Mine had the code in a sticker inside the fuse box cover.

Open the trunk. It's on a sticker on the drivers side hinge.
