I hate when I meet a person and they ask what I do for a living

I usually lie and tell them some BS like I mow lawns. I get some people like to network but they are usually trying too hard anyway. The only people with legit grounds to ask that are ladies that I meet at bars.

So what do you do for a living?

It’s just an ice breaker man

They shouldn't be asking you this either. Someone deciding you're a suitable mate by inquiring about what you do is a disaster.

Pron star is the appropriate answer.

Hate to tell you, no one really cares what your answer is.

Unless it's a single woman, then there's a high probability of fishing.

I wouldn’t say I hate it, but I agree that I don’t like it.
It’s a very superficial/pretentious question. It’s okay to discuss, just distasteful IMO when someone asks it in the first couple moments of meeting you. It should come up naturally IMO, not forced.

It’s called being nosy and not passing up the opportunity to tell the world what you do for a living.

Since he didn't want to say, I'm guessing he plays games and streams on youtube.

Are you ashamed of what you do for a living or something?

Always thought a masters in custodial arts was worth sharing

I think they’re just trying to make conversation.

God forbid people take an interest in you and try and speak to you. You sound like you have a great personality.
