I could see his point. Denver is a lot more cookie cutter than New Orleans. Some like cookie cutter places, some don't.
I'll never really understand this. Most "unique" cities are filled with block after block of "cookie cutter" buildings.
I guess if it's in your city, "cookie cutter" is somehow unique.

While NOLA and La still have Mardi Gras, culture, and Gulf fishing/seafood nearby..
Denver has God-made natural splendor and proxy to many year-round resorts. And while LCRA can make a fake lake in Lake Lyndon Johnson for Marble Falls/Horseshoe Bay, it's not the norm..IE you either have it(nature), or you don't. Few if any have it like Denver! Also, Denver unlike NO, has a great city grid, and fast access to all corners compared to many major metros, has all four pro sport franchises, and their good ones. Year round tolerable weather(you can always layer up..you can't turn off stifling heat)..
NO's one big advantage over the rest of America's travel meccas(dining), has greatly narrowed over the last 50 years. Sure, it's still mecca for French-Continental, Creole, and Cajun fare.
But, it's no longer just NYC, SF, Chi, LA, etc.. that rival NO for dining greatness. The last fifty years, the amount of great culinary schools and graduates, churning out great chefs learning a variety of skills and cuisines, at various well-traveled stops in their travels, then plying those skills in America's wealthiest places..
Their best usually wind up in Fortune 500 heavy deep-pocket major metros(Denver for example has experienced monster culinary growth..melting pots like Houston too..etc..) and/or vacation spots(LV, NYC, Bost, Chi, SF, LA,etc..)..
Nawlins has maintained it's greatness and consistency, but cities like Vegas were once a sandtrap/buffetville, or a high plains outpost in Denver(famous for Buckhorn Exchange wild game meals)..have greatly greatly closed the gap..
And most of them say Texas and further west, have infinitely better fare in Asian, Mexican, Wild Game, American Diner fare, and even east coast-esque Kosher Delis for all the seaboard transplants and retirees, than does Nawlins.

I loved the mountains around Denver probably the prettiest place I've ever seen but Denver does suck. How many freaking homeless can you cram on one block?

There is nothing cookie cutter about Denver. The suburbs to the south and north, I'll give you. But the city itself has a lot of old houses that have been bought and flipped with a lot of charm.
Think the Garden District in Baton Rouge but as if all of inner Baton Rouge looked that way.

new orleans is my favorite city, but denver doesn't suck.
you just have to avoid driving in traffic.
head to the mountains at non-peak times (I wouldn't even consider living there if i couldn't have this luxury)
there's a light rail coming this year from airport to downtown
other light rail system already in place
union station
bike/car rentals on every street downtown--just swipe and go.
pretty cool neighborhoods with local establishments, and overall nice, laid back people (every town has its douche-factor)
huge airport hub with all sorts of awesome places within easy drive, train, bus or direct cheap flight
it isn't the best place in the world, but it is far from a shitty town.

New Orleans has mountains too.
Some people call them pot holes.

Agreed. I hate the architecture in Denver, but after living in New Orleans, I hate the architecture in most other places. Being near mountains is awesome. It does seem like Denver tries to be weird for the sake of being weird at times (think Austin). Overall, I liked it, though.

I travel all over the world and I must say that new orleans is still my favorite city. I a love the open container laws and the fact that bars/clubs close early in the morning. Denver has pot and craft beers, cool who cares. This city blows, only thing they got going for them is the mountains
That's 3 pretty great things to have going for a city.

Sorry for not having an absurd amount of murders and piss in our streets?

We like the Denver area so much we just bought a second home in Golden. The Denver area is fantastic and the cold really isn't cold at all since there is 0% humidity. -10 there feels like 20-25 here.

Lived there for 2 years. City sucked...surroundings were awesome.

I think the city kind of sucks, but the area around Denver is incredible.

Pretty nice how they converted the large number of abandoned railway warehouses into nice apartments/condos. And all near Coors field and downtown.

If you can't have fun in Denver there is something wrong with you. Its not one of my favorite cities but hating on it is just dumb.
