That’s not really accurate. The Quran is written to be a companion to the existing Bible. It heavily references existing passages as existing passages. The entire premise of the Quran is that God is annoyed that humans managed to frick up his revelation again, so now he’s going to lay out word for word rules, and a lot of that is “clarifying” Bible passages

A lot of the stories in the Quran are from gnostic and apocryphal Christian texts repurposed as being what Christians truly believed. The Quran in no way is written to be a companion to the existing Bible because one it is counter to everything in the New Testament and the message of Jesus, two, there are Hadith saying both the Torah and the Gospel have been corrupted even though we have manuscripts back to the 2nd century for the NT and to the 3rd century BC for the Old Testament, three it significantly changes stories found in the Bible and claims they are the authentic stories, and finally Muhammed is a POS pedophile who miraculously received "revelations" from Allah whenever he wanted to do something that was forbidden to others.

They are completely different gods what else is there to say? Just because they all trace back to Abraham means nothing

The idea that they are the same god plays off the idea that there are multiple ways to God/Heaven which I fully reject

It was Jesus who presented himself to Abraham and premised him a son even in his old age. It wasn’t Allah or the Jewish false god it was Jesus

The Crusades certainly didn't help.

Maybe if they had not taken over by the sword the Christian lands in the Middle East, North Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, and parts of Europe and enslaved Christians they caught on the Mediterranean, there would not have been any Crusades to take back the Holy Land.

Which is why I couldn't care less about Palestinian or Muslim claims to any land near Israel or the Levant.

You’re unduly limiting my intended use of the word “companion”. I’ve stated multiple times on this thread that Muslims believe god gave direct revelation to Mohammad because they believe both Jews and Christians had fricked it all up.

Some of you keep replying to me as though I’m arguing in favor of Islam when I’m simply stating objective fact regarding what Muslims believe. That doesn’t at all mean that I believe as they do.

You're trying to use your facts to refute other facts.

Nobody cares about the Muslim justifications. Plenty of us are aware of their claims as to why they shite all over God's word because some illiterate loser that got booted out of Mecca decided to start a cult. We are aware of how contradictory and misguided their book is.

You can aggressively agree with that if you want.

Muslims believe the Torah, the New Testament, and the Koran are all holy books.

muslims will say they believe anything to get you to put down your guard or to be able to claim something that they can use for their benefit.

If they believed the New Testament was holy they would believe Jesus is the son of God and not just a prophet, and they would follow Christ and be Christians. Jesus being the Christ, our savior, and freeing us with forgiveness from our sins instead of being bound by Old Testament rules/laws/sacrifices in regards to our sins are the core messages throughout the New Testament. You cannot separate that out. Jesus is the son of god, or he was blasphemous with his teachings. It’s one or the other.

Picking and choosing what benefits them and what can be used to play victim is what Arabs do and what muslims do even more.

quote:

A true interpretation of a Kafr is someone who practices polytheism
Many muslims believe Christians practice polytheism due to believing Jesus is the son of god. The Holy Ghost can get lumped into this as well by some.

quote:

They believe Moses and Jesus were prophets, with Muhammad being the last prophet.
Muhammad is not just the last but the greatest in their beliefs. No other comes close or can be mentioned as being equal to mohammed. He is almost revered as being a de facto god by most muslims even when he married little girls. They will claim otherwise, but their actions put him above everything.

Yeah and in Sahih Muslim 49.7011.2767 Christians and Jews will be cast into hell to atone for Muslims.

how is it possible to go through life and not have taken a single religious studies class in grade school, high school, Sunday school, or college?

The three major monotheistic religions play a part in almost anything that goes on in the world and has for a long time.

I almost don’t believe you

Tell me if I’m off base: you believe if people read the way I’ve framed the way Muslims frame their “revelation”, you believe it will either cause Christians to question the legitimacy of their own revelation, or in the alternative, cause Christians to be more sympathetic towards Islam.

More or less accurate?

I don't think either of those things. I haven't thought on that level in a very long time to be honest.

Remind me who engaged who first in this thread. That may inform us on why the dialogue went the way it did.
