Her obituary also says she was preceded in death by her husband.

LINK

"Jennifer is preceded in death by her husband, Brandon Sheffield, and her grandparents, Quitman and Florence Sullivan and Viola and Ross Frey."

Obituaries are often paid by the family to run like an add. They put what they want,

Pretty sure the newspaper has a say in what they will print as far as obituaries are concerned although that is not done very often.

One that she no doubt initiated.

Times picayune used to list them but if I remember correctly it was local civil rights people who pushed for it to end because so many were “died of a gunshot”

That was in early mid 90s if I recall

Husband came in a shot and killed her as she was working the return desk. I was off that day but it was chaotic to say the least. A group of us were going to attend her wake but we were unaware that the kids decided to bury them together. We walking in and the dad/murder is laying in a casket next to the mom who was murdered. It was very weird and we just said our respects and left.

He shot himself too?

Obituaries should tell the cause of death. It bothers me that they don't for some reason.

I think the cause of death should be listed on the gravestone, as well.
Then graveyards could be organized by Cause of Death sections. You know, like Sector 5 could be for Cancer deaths, Sector 6 - Badger attacks, Sector 7- Amusement Park decapitations, and so on.

Unfortunately, I've known several people who've committed suicide and in 2 instances, it was a murder suicide.

All of them came out of the blue and when I heard, I was shocked that they had done that------especially the murder/suicides.

One murder/suicide left young kids behind and the other was a childless couple in their 40's.

It's the kids I feel the most sorry for in these instances where a parent does themselves in----especially when no note is left behind to state a reason and the family is left to speculation. How much blame do the kids put on themselves????

Including the cause of death used to be routine. Obituaries stopped including it when people started dying from AIDS.

The cause of John Smith's death was intestinal blockage due to anal insertion of a foreign object.
