Went to Mexico last spring to an all enclusive. Spend 9 days sitting on the beach with Mrs Prez listening to salsa music and drinking tequila drinks. Read 4 books. And every time you look up, you see beautiful clear blue water.
How can anyone not enjoy the hell out of that?

1. The beach has a nice breeze which makes it cooler and more pleasantly temperatured than surrounding land inland. Yes, for people in the South, the beach, as hot as it is, is significantly LESS hot than where most folks actually live.
2. Water is pretty. People like watching the water and sky. Plus, the sound of the waves is extremely soothing.
3. Day drinking is fun, and the beach is a socially acceptable place to indulge in such.
4. Bikinis
5. A lot of people actually do enjoy tanning. I burn easily, so O’m not one of those people, but many do.
6. Swimming is fun, especially with waves. Plus, your body is more buoyant in salt water than in fresh or chlorinated water.
7. Building sand castles is fun.
So, when I go to the beach, it’s like a tailgate. I have shade, lounge chairs, food, booze, music, and maybe even something good cooking. Instead of a football game, there’s volleyball and swimming. Instead of sundresses, there’s bikinis. How do you not get this?

My wife loves the beach. When we go she wants to be out at 7am and stay out till 7pm. I always get a place on the beach where I can go back to the room for a while and watch TV or read. I can't do it for 12 hours straight unless I'm on a boat.

I get why a lot of people visit CO but there's a lot of awesome places to visit without being at serious elevation.
