I consider myself a man of character sadly this is a lost quality

Abraham Lincoln said, “Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree.“ Our character is much more than just our reputation, what we try to display for others to see. It is who we are even when no one is watching. Having a Good Character means doing the right thing just because it is right to do what is right.
Why is it so hard to do the right thing? Not because you feel obligated to do so or are going to be perceived differently by others but because you truely believe it's the right thing to do.
Through my years I've met people who brag about being liars and cheats. Who from the outside appear to be of substance until you dive deeper.
Truthfulness is not easy. Having values and convictions shouldn't be an after thought.

Values and "doing the right thing" mostly went out the window with the decline of churches and Christianity the last decade or so.
As a Christian, it is shocking how much it's changed. Especially in the south.

I strongly consider myself a man of my word. Even if I know after the fact that it is going to cost me more than anticipated in the long run. Once committed,I'm there.

You're right. Sucks how it's not "cool" to be good church going folks these days. But the good thing to remember is, there will still be churches and Christians long after US pop culture is forgotten or a footnote in some history book.
