Now I understand why the 20 something year old lady servers ignore me after I pay a 40 % tip in the jar.

I guess I never learn.

Everyone should have a job as a waiter at least once in their life to be a well-rounded individual.

They are waiting on you to sample each salad dressing before choosing which salad dressing you want on your side salad. They are waiting on you to decide if you want lemonade or just a water with no ice, and a glass of ice, and extra lemons and sugar packets so you can make your own lemonade at the table for free, or waiting for you to finish changing your baby's diaper at the booth before coming over to refill your water and drop off more sugar packets, etc.

I bet all waiters spit in the OPs food. I would also out money on the OP be a lard arse given his preference for cheap shitty Applebee’s level food.

The most annoying professionals I know are Nurses that got in the medical field because they wanted the pay. I’ve never heard a collective group of people bitch and complain more about doing their jobs than a group of nurse who just wanted the good paycheck.

There are nurses that got in the field for the right reasons, i.e. they actually care about taking care of people. But there’s a huge group that just got into it because they thought it would pay better than anything else.

I work in healthcare and this is true. They definitely enjoy letting everybody know how hard their jobs are.

Agreed, or at least the service industry in general.

I'd bet a lot of these know-it-alls whining about the guy bringing their food would keep their mouth shut if they actually had to deal with the general public on a daily basis

They can’t even recognize that, in many restaurants, their “skills” are becoming less and less valuable. There are many positions in restaurants that don’t get paid as well through tips and can’t be replaced with an iPad and a drink machine.

Not that I disagree with you, but is this really "in many restaurants"? In McDonalds or a major chain like Chili's maybe.. but I don't think you're going to see the majority of regular sit-down restaurants get rid of bartenders and servers.

Are traditional sit down places going to be a thing once the pandemic is over?

Whiny waiters are the best. I specifically request the whiniest waiters when I eat out so I can feel better about myself.
Not me, I request the waitress with big tits.

I say “no problem” all the time. At this point, I think it’s a highly-accepted casual form of “you’re welcome.”

My intent isn’t to literally imply “rest assured that your request had no negative impact on my life.” But rather to imply “Of course. I was happy to help.”

Words have meaning.

It's reasonable to expect people to speak in sentences that minimize the need for the listener to have psychic abilities that enable him to understand what you are implying .............

There's been plenty of mutations and evolutions of our vernacular that are widely accepted without complaint. I'd consider "no problem" being a casual substitute for "you're welcome" to be a rather harmless and benign one.

If a buddy asks me to grab him a beer from the cooler and says "thanks man" upon me handing it to him, it feels weird and unnecessarily formal to respond "you're welcome." Thus, I usually respond "no problem" to things like that.

I reserve "you're welcome" for more significant things like after giving somebody a gift.
