I don’t care if the OP is telling the truth or not- New Orleans is in decline
The leadership is horrible. But what choices do the citizens have? The mayoral choices come down to which tribe best suits you. Decades of corruption have left a situation that has left underfunded pensions, leaking water lines, frail sewerage infrastructure, streets that are 3rd world.
The police department is fraught with corruption.
There are no answers to fix all of this so they wait for disaster to get the federal funds needed to just get by.
The city is literally another cat 3 or more away from a massive evacuation that will gut the city and leave it with citizens who can ill afford to pay the freight. Death spiral.

I defended it for years, but this mayor has ruined what was left of New Orleans. They’ll just keep blaming whitey until there is nothing left.

You might as well have said "I have no clue what I'm talking about."
The NOPD is hamstrung by a ridiculous consent decree which prevents proactive policing. It's not corrupt. The voices on the radio are nerdy kids from the north and Midwest.
But at least they don't live in Slidell.
